He also invented machinery for spinning hemp into rope, which was heavily adopted by the Boston Navy Yard. This note was addressed to John Langdon Sibley (1805â1885), who served as the prominent head librarian of Harvard University's Gore Hall library from 1856 to 1877. Approx. 5 x 4.5 in. Dated 1865. VG
