Pair of matching diamond-studded gold and enamel double-paneled cufflinks, each reading "Tiffany & Co, 18K" on verso. Each of the 4 links 7/8 x 3/8 in. (2.2 x 1 cm.). In a hard Verdura Incorporated of New York jewelry case, 3 1/4 x 1 3/4 x 1 in. (8.3 x 4.4 x 2.5 cm.), minimal wear.

Printed calling card reading "George Platt Lynes" with his telephone number and Manhattan address, inscribed in pencil on recto: "This is just because I love you & have wanted to give you something new to remember me by. Bless you every moment"; horizontal fold, other minor wear. 1 3/4 x 3 1/4 in. (4.4 x 8.3 cm.). Together with the jewelry case in a worn and incomplete cardboard from Verdura, 3 1/4 x 2 x 1 1/4 in. (8.3 x 5.1 x 3.2 cm.).

The fashion photographer George Platt Lynes famously lived at this 48 East 8th Street Manhattan address with his partners curator Monroe Wheeler and author Glenway Wescott from the mid-1930s to mid-1940s. The three are listed together in the 1940 census, with Wheeler listed as the head of household and Wescott and Lynes as partners. Provenance: Monroe Wheeler Archive.
