The .38 Special was added to the 2nd Generation line late in 1956 around the time this revolver was manufactured. Only 2,881 Second Generation revolvers were produced in this configuration based on the data discussed in "The Post-War Colt Single-Action Revolver, 1955-1975" by Wilkerson. The frame retain 99% of the original casehardened finish with a slight scratch on the recoil shield. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering.
