Colt First Generation Single Action Army Revolver with Scarce Long Fluted Cylinder Manufactured in 1915. Between 1913-1915, a total of only 1,478 Single Action Army revolvers are reported to have left Colt with factory fitted surplus long fluted cylinders from the Model 1878 revolvers with special features implemented into the cylinder for single action function including the stop notches and changes to the ratchet, typically seen in the 330001-331479 serial range per page 156 of "A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver" by Graham, Kopec, and Moore. The top of the barrel has the two-line Colt Hartford address and "45 COLT" is on the left. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent dates followed by a Rampant Colt, and a factory triangle "VP" proof and the number "1" are on the left of the trigger guard. Matching visible serial numbers are marked on the frame, trigger guard and butt, unnumbered cylinder and replacement grips, and assembly number "877" on the loading gate (partially stamped 8) and rear of the frame. What appears to read "KELL" and "WMK" is period hand carved on the interior of the right grip, and partially legible initials are also on the butts of both grips.
