Scarce and Desirable Colt Bisley Flattop Target Model Double Action Revolver in Extremely Rare 32 S&W Caliber Manufactured in 1899, this is one of only 976 Bisley Flattop Target revolvers manufactured by Colt between 1894 and 1913, and only one of 17 Bisley Target Model revolvers reportedly chambered for the 32 S&W cartridge, making this revolver even rarer. When introduced in 1894, the Colt factory designated the Flattop Target Bisley as the "Model of 1894". The Bisley name was adopted after the revolver proved itself at international matches in Bisley, England. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A.", the left side is marked "(BISLEY MODEL) FOR 32 S & W CTG.". Writer imagines it was difficult for Colt to mark one of their products with the competitors brand, "S&W". The left side of the frame is marked with the two-line, three patent date marking followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The rear face of the cylinder has the last three digits "826" of the serial number stamped, The revolver features a nickel silver pinned front blade and dove tailed rear sights, all blue finish with a casehardened hammer, wide, low hammer spur with a niter blue trigger and characteristic "humpback" grip. Fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. No factory letter is available to writer at time of description, but appears authentic. Manufacturer: Colt Model: Bisley BBL: 7 1/2 inch round Stock: Gauge: 32 S&W Finish: blue Grips: hard rubber Serial Number: 183826 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine with 90% bright original high polish blue finish remaining, showing a thumb-sized area of cold blue tough up visible on the left side of the muzzle which covers a small amount of minor pitting, some high point wear, some thinning on the grip straps, and a few scattered minor scratches and dings. The hammer retains 85% plus of the vivid original case colors. The trigger retains 75% of the original bright niter blue finish. The grips have sun faded to brown, and remain excellent with crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. A very rare Bisley Target Model revolver in the extremely rare 32 S&W caliber.
