Extraordinary Etched Barrel Panel Colt Model 1877 Lightning Double Action Revolver Manufactured in 1888. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, the left side has the scarce etched panel "COLT. D.A. 38," and the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent dates. The underside of the barrel is stamped with the English proofmarks: "NOT NITRO CIP/PN LP/16". "Bullseye" ejector rod head, blade front and frame notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened frame, niter blue trigger and hammer with polished sides, and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1877 BBL: 4 1/2 inch round Stock: Gauge: 38 long Colt Finish: blue/casehardened Grips: hard rubber Serial Number: 65116 Class: Antique Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 97% plus bright original blue finish with some extremely minor brown spots present on the ejector housing and barrel and a small amount of minor spotting on the back strap. The frame retains 98% of the original bright vivid case colors. Almost all of the original bright niter blue finish remains on the hammer and trigger with a small area of minor corrosion on the lower rear of the hammer. The grips are also excellent with some light handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are sharp, and the exceptional etched barrel panel is as clear and bright as the day it was manufactured. The action is excellent. One will look a long time to find a better example!
