Francotte Piedmontese Model 1844/60 Percussion Rifled-Musket Collector's Lot of Two European Percussion Conversion Military Muskets with Bayonets -A) A. Francotte Piedmontese Model 1844/60 Percussion Rifled-Musket Manufactured around the 1840s-1850s by Auguste Francotte in Liege, Belgium, and rifled around 1860 for use with Minie bullets and likely imported into the U.S. for use by Union forces during the Civil War. It has fixed blade and notch sights, "crown/AF" on the lock, "crown/LM" and the oval Liege proof on the barrel, the round Francotte stock marking on the right side, and "crown/G" on the side plate. Includes a socket bayonet. Manufacturer: Belgium Model: Percussion Rifle BBL: 40 1/2 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 69 Finish: bright Grips: Serial Number: NSN Class: Antique Condition: Fine with mottled gray and brown patina, mild pitting, general marks and scratches, a crack in the lightly sanded and re-oiled otherwise very good stock at the tail of the lock, and some minor dings. Mechanically excellent. B) 1835 Dated Danzig "Potsdam" Percussion Conversion Musket It has fixed blade and notch sights, proofs, "1835" and "1913" on the barrel at the breech; "crown/DANZIG/1835" on the lock, various markings on the stock (including the serial number on the left side and a carved "A+" on the right), and a socket bayonet without a locking ring and with a partial sheath. Manufacturer: German Model: Percussion Rifle BBL: 41 inch round Stock: hardwood Gauge: 72 Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 1913 Class: Antique Condition: Very good with nearly all of the arsenal refinished blue finish, mostly bright brass, and mild pitting under the finish. The re-oiled stock is fine with a sliver absent on the right at the buttplate, crack at the heel, repaired crack on the left flat, and minor scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine. The bayonet has dark brown patina and mild pitting. The scabbard is missing both the upper section and the tip and has some cracking and separation.
