U.S. inspected Commando revolvers were issued to state militia forces, security teams at war-essential industrial centers, and similar "home front" applications. Fixed sights. The two-line Hartford address is on top of the barrel, and "COLT COMMANDO/38 SPECIAL" is on the left side of the barrel. The "VP" Colt proof and the number "4" are on the left side of the trigger guard, and a flaming ordnance bomb is above the cylinder release. Fitted with a pair of checkered plastic Rampant Colt grips. Manufacturer: Colt Model: Commando BBL: 4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 38 special Finish: parkerized Grips: plastic Serial Number: 16295 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very good. 85% plus original parkerized finish remains with areas of high point and edge wear, handling marks, and a cylinder drag line. The grips are excellent with light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. B) Colt Commando Double Action Revolver Features a 2 inch round barrel marked "COLT COMMANDO/38 SPECIAL" on the left side and the two-line address on the right. We have no factory letter to confirm, so we cannot guarantee the barrel is original. Round blade front and frame notch rear sights with standard Colt inspection marks on the left side of the trigger guard and a small "flaming bomb" stamp on the top left of the frame. Fitted with checkered plastic grips with molded in Rampant Colt logos at the top. The U.S. government purchased just over 50,000 Commando Model revolvers numbered sequentially from 1 through the end of production.
