Two (2) works, both framed. Including a portrait of three (3) Sealyham puppies, signed and dated lower right with artist's notes to verso, and a portrait of four (4) fox terrier puppies, signed and dated 1970 lower left with artist's notes to verso.

Clarence Calhoun "Tex" Fawcett was born in Smithsville, Texas in 1902. His family moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he attended the old St. Louis School of Fine Arts. In 1927, Fawcett began working in the Ralston Purina art department where he was the art director for 25 years before becoming the director of the company's dog care division in 1959. Fawcett also wrote dog care columns for the firm for many years. Beyond his recognition as a painter for winning dogs in competition and field trials, he also received various awards from the Dog Writers of America for his books and films on dog events. During World War II, he was a regional associate for Dogs for Defense, which supplied and trained sentry dogs for the military. Fawcett served as president of the Greater St. Louis Training Club for eight years and was a licensed obedience judge. He also served as president of the Mississippi Valley Kennel Club here and of the West Highland White Terrier Club of America. He also bred champion West Highland White Terriers. His paintings have been on display in many states and at the American Kennel Club headquarters.

Shipment is the full responsibility of the buyer. Selkirk will not be responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or otherwise responsible for any items left in Selkirk's possession fifteen (15) days after the sale. If arrangements for shipping have not been made and communicated within thirty (30) days, Selkirk reserves the right, at this time, to charge a storage fee of $10 per lot per day for furniture and large format items and $5 per lot per day for all other items, and within sixty (60) days, at its own discretion, sell any items left on the premises. Accumulated fees resulting from storage and insurance cost will be taken out of any proceeds.

Objects that contain materials of endangered or protected species may be subject to regulations disallowing export and import into other states or countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to be aware of all applicable laws and regulations and to obtain any required export or import licenses or certificates and any other required documentation.
