Civil War Era Sharps New Model 1863 Percussion Carbine The top of the barrel is stamped with the three-line address ahead of the R.S. Lawrence adjustable ladder rear sight and "NEW MODEL 1863" at the breech. The action has Sharps and Lawrence patent markings featuring a saddle ring bar with ring on the left side. Smooth straight grip stock and forearm with single barrel band and crescent buttplate. The left side of the wrist has two script letter cartouches. Manufacturer: Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company Model: 1863-Carbine BBL: 22 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 52 percussion Finish: blue/casehardened Grips: Serial Number: C29793 Class: Antique Condition: Very good. The carbine is a mix of crisp dark and mottled gray patina. The wood is good with three hairline cracks in the wrist area, sanded forearm and some minor pressure dents and scratches. The cartouches are legible. Mechanically excellent. This is a solid representative example!
