A member of four American League pennant and three World Series champion New York Yankees teams, Chuck Knoblauch joined the Yankees as a four -time All-Star second baseman but suffered through a celebrated case of "the yips" losing his ability to make accurate throws to first base and spent the latter part of his career as an outfielder and designated hitter. Knoblauch scored the winning run in the fifth game of the 2001 World Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the "Déjà vu-It ain't over til it's over-All Over Again" game in which the Yankees tied the game in the bottom of the ninth and won in extra innings for the second straight night. This is the 2001 ring issued to Knoblauch when the Yankees won the 2001 American League Championship, before losing a memorable seven games series to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The face of this 14K gold Balfour size-10 ring has the "Top Hat" Yankees logo on top of a bed of real diamonds, with the hat containing red and blue stones. Around the perimeter of the face are "YANKEES AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS" with Yankees and Champions in raised relief, with "American" and "League" engraved on opposite sides. One shank contains the Year "2001", a baseball and the word "TRADITION." The other shank contains "KNOBLAUCH" and the Yankees iconic interlocking "NY" over an American Flag (this was after the terrorist attacks on 9/11), with the word "PRIDE" below. Knoblauch's name is inscribed inside the band under the crown with "BALFOUR 14K" engraved on the interior bottom. This 56.7 gram, team-issued ring is accompanied by a 7-3/8" x 5-7/8" x 2-5/8" wooden box and the top glass window is etched with "NEW YORK YANKEES 2001 AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS." This is the original mint-condition team issued ring. Please note this ring originates from Stacey Grillo, Wife of Chuck Knoblauch in 2002 and winner will receive purchase agreement and copy of cancelled and endorsed check given to her.
