A group of eight elephant ivory smoking pipe fittings, including bowls, endcaps, and mouthpieces, showing a range of turned and carved forms associated with traditional pipe construction. Among them is a particularly notable bowl carved as a finely detailed and naturalistic crab grasping a fish, with red-ink characters, and a brass collar on the base. The mouthpieces are all centrally bored for airflow, while some endcaps are also pierced, reflecting the fact that these caps did not always function to seal the pipe completely due to the common use of bamboo, that naturally forms an internal partitions that seal the stem end. Size of largest: 2" Diameter x 1" W (5.1 cm x 2.5 cm)
