Cased Pair of Factory Engraved Gold Plated National Arms Co. Front Loading New Model Cartridge Revolvers with Ivory Grips -A) National Arms Co. Front Loading New Model Cartridge Revolver Cased Pair of Factory Engraved Gold Plated National Arms Co. Front Loading New Model Cartridge Revolvers with Ivory Grips -A) National Arms Co. Front Loading New Model Cartridge Revolver Manufactured from 1864 to 1870 by Moore's Patent Firearms Co. and the National Arms Co. These revolvers and their ammunition were an inventive design by Daniel Moore and David Williamson to circumvent the Rollin White patent held by Smith & Wesson that prevented other companies from legally manufacturing revolvers with bored through cylinders. This pair of revolvers exhibit essentially identical factory engraving and have almost certainly been paired from the time they left the factory. The majority of the frames, the barrels, and the cylinders all exhibit masterfully executed floral scroll engraving on beaded backgrounds. The top of the barrels have the National Arms Co. address and the Williamson's patent marking follows the rear edges of the cylinders. The serial numbers are marked on the bottom of the barrels. The grips were not removed out of respect for their delicate nature. They are fitted with a German silver blade front sights, hammer notch rear sights, and smooth ivory grips. Includes a scarce hardwood dual gun case with two brass cleaning tools.

  • Condition: A) Good, retaining strong traces of the delicate original gold finish, mostly grey patina on the iron, some light pitting and mostly crisp engraving. The grips are fair with a chip absent from the right panel and some age cracks. Mechanically functions. The case is good with the lid warped and scattered minor handling marks. A very interesting cased pair of National Arms Co. teat-fire revolvers! B) Very good, retaining strong traces of the delicate original gold finish with the balance of the iron primarily brown finish with some patches of mild oxidation, while the brass shows an attractively aged patina, and mostly well-defined engraving. The grips are also good with a repair on the right, and some minor chips and age cracks. Mechanically functions.
