Author: Carl Barks - Carl Barks was an American cartoonist, author, and painter. He is best known for his comics about Donald Duck and as the creator of Scrooge McDuck. He worked anonymously until late in his career; fans dubbed him "The Duck Man" and "The Good Duck Artist." In 1987, Barks was one of the three inaugural inductees of the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame.

Barks worked for the Disney Studio and Western Publishing where he created Duckburg and many of its inhabitants, such as Scrooge McDuck (1947), Gladstone Gander (1948), the Beagle Boys (1951), The Junior Woodchucks (1951), Gyro Gearloose (1952), Cornelius Coot (1952), Flintheart Glomgold (1956), John D. Book Details: This volume contains the "Christmas on Bear Mountain," "Uncle Scrooge's Christmas Carol," "Uncle Scrooge the Lemonade King" and "The Lemonade King," with the last of these presenting blue-pencil drafts. This work offers a history of the character, with samples of representations of "Uncle Scrooge" in film, television and comic books.

Condition / Notes: This is a scarce author-signed limited edition of this collection of comic-strip stories. Carl Barks's signature appears on a limitation bookplate on the front pastedown. This is copy number 78 of 750. The author has also signed a large color photo (measuring approximately 10" x 8") of himself at a desk signing a letter. The photo is inscribed to Albert Ruane. This edition contains storybook paintings by Norman McGary and commentary by Geoffrey Blum.


This work is bound in black cloth with bright stamped gilt lettering to the front cover. The book is in excellent condition, with many bright color illustrations. This book is preserved in its original illustrated dust jacket and a new slipcase, with color pastedown to one side.
