Candlestick for havdalah candle with two doors which open for spices - hammered, engraved and drilled silver, 19th century.Square candlestick. The top part is used for a havdalah candle in two ways, a wide candle at its top, or a narrow candle which can be placed in the middle. Under this is a narrow drawer for spices. A door at the base opens on a hinge for placing spices in a large space. The four doors are decorated in patterns of leaves and flowers. The candlestick stands on four round, stylized legs.For similar towers produced in Germany in the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, refer to the Stieglitz Collection of Masterpieces of Jewish Art by Chaya Benjamin, catalog items 66 and 67.Height: 23 cm.
