c. 1865 Abraham Lincoln Assassination Period Decorative Oval Mourning Brooch in a beaded gold-filled frame with a Ferrotype Portrait of Lincoln's Bearded face at center, attached to a black mourning fabric, Very Fine.
This attractive mourning brooch measures about .75" x .875" overall and is set in a handsomely crafted oval gold-filled frame of noticeable quality. The outer rim of the gold frame features a finely beaded decorative border and refined character. The interior of the frame is fitted with a second oval bezel securing the convex protective glass cover, which can benefit from cleaning the interior glass, beneath which rests the original period ferrotype (tintype) portrait of a bearded President Lincoln. The image shows characteristic minor pebbling of the emulsion surface and some minor rim edge chipping. The central portrait shows the underlying ferrotype of Lincoln with his full beard he grew during the Civil War years. All attached to a black mourning fabric.
