ASIAN: Miura Chikusen (Japanese, 1853-1915), seagulls and waves vase, late 19th C., Japan, impressed 'waves' fading into light pink sky, detailed seagulls, blue and white floral motifs around lip and foot, bulbous footed base, tapered neck, flared rim with small flower bud necks to either side, base with maker's mark and old paper label with English translation "Made by Miura Chikusen in Kiyoto Japan", wear consistent with age including old repairs to hairline cracks on base, 11 1/4" h. [VERBAL PROVENANCE: Consigner's Great Grandfather was a US Naval Paymaster who sailed to Japan and China in the 1880's. His records state that he bought the vase in Yokohama, Japan.]
