India, Thailand, China & Indonesia. Group of six different examples, including a Ming Dynasty pottery head originally from a figure, retaining some scattered surface pigment. A small 18th century or earlier, Thai bronze Buddha head originally from a figure. encrusted surface. mounted on an old wooden block base. An 18th - 19th century South Indian carved sandstone votive depicting Ganesha. Retains some scattered pink surface pigment. Old label affixed on reverse inked: Bhonegheer S. India. Together with an Indian brass votive, ca. 19th century, pedestal base with an animal on a ledge. Old patina with scattered encrustation. An Indian brass Naga hooded cobra finial having a bifurcated tongue at the top center, 19th century. Finally, an iron betel nut cutter in form of an elaborate dragon head with flaming manes and projecting toothy snout, having silver covered handles, ca. 19th century or earlier. 2.25" to 4" (5.72 cm to 10.16 cm).

Provenance: Long Island, N.Y. collection. Ex. collection of Nancy and John Hyde Devoe, NYC. and N.J., active 1950’s - 1970’s.

  • Condition: The Thai bronze Buddha head has some loss to the back of the head. The Ganesha votive shows overall heavy wear from use, with an old loss to the upper left corner. The brass Naga finial is intact.
