An exceptional and highly collectible Le Phare Minute Repeater Chronograph Pocket Watch crafted in 14K rose gold and produced by the renowned Swiss watchmaker Charles Barbezat-Baillot (C.B.) of Le Locle, Switzerland. Manufactured circa 1890?1910, this remarkable timepiece represents the golden age of Swiss horology and showcases the innovative craftsmanship that made Le Phare one of the most respected makers of complicated pocket watches. Founded by Charles Barbezat-Baillot, Le Phare became internationally recognized for producing some of the finest chronographs, repeaters, and complicated watches of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Barbezat was among the pioneering watch manufacturers to adopt production-line techniques while maintaining the high standards of traditional Swiss watchmaking. This watch features an elegant white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds register, chronograph function, and a highly desirable minute repeater complication. At the press of the repeater slide, the watch audibly chimes the hours, quarter-hours, and minutes, allowing the wearer to determine the time in darkness?an extraordinary technical achievement for its era. The movement displays the intricate engineering for which Le Phare was celebrated. Collectors particularly appreciate the historical connection between Charles Barbezat and other legendary Swiss horologists, including Louis Audemars, with whom ideas and technical developments were exchanged during this important period in Swiss watchmaking. The case bears the engraved "CB" maker's mark, along with Swiss hallmarks including the squirrel hallmark, indicating export to the German market, and the 0.585 gold mark, confirming 14K gold content. The crowned hallmark further authenticates the case as a period Swiss precious metal case.
