Rare, original WWI panoramic "yard long" photograph from circa 1919, capturing the U.S. Third Army Supply Train & Motor Park stationed in Lützel-Coblenz, Germany. Taken during the post-Armistice Allied Occupation of the Rhineland, these expansive panoramic prints are highly sought-after military collectibles that document early mechanized logistics and the daily lives of Doughboys overseas. Lützel (Koblenz-Lützel) is a district of Coblenz located on the left bank of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. During the post-WWI occupation, this specific hub served as a major railhead, repair station, and motor transport park. : The U.S. Third Army, famously known as the "Army of Occupation," officially established its headquarters in Coblenz on December 15, 1918. The Motor Transport Corps and associated Supply Trains managed thousands of vehicles, ranging from standard Liberty trucks to specialized equipment. : To keep the occupation forces sustained, the motor park handled continuous logistics, vehicle assembly, and horse auctions. They also processed thousands of surrendered German military trucks turned over to the Americans under the armistice terms. Photograph by Fred Schutz.
