It is suitable for framing. Large Woodblock Illustration, approximately 16 inches high by 11 1/2 inches wide, front page from January 24, 1863 Issue of Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. Front page woodblock illustration & accompanying text, of that issue. The text above the illustration and continuing for a short space on the versoverso of the page gives a description of the harrowing circumstances of the loss in a terrific storm off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. It also gives a brief description of the "Monitor's" epic fight with the Confederate iron clad "Merrimac" or "Virginia" as the C.S.A. renamed the ship.

Left side rough where it was removed from the Leslie's volume/closed tears in margins, one which nearly touches the image at the bottom image/title fuzzy in some words as printer didn't use enough ink/paper toning but not brittle.
