Pre-Columbian, Belize, Maya, ca. 300 BCE to 900 CE. A group of four stone tools presented in a display case. The two large bifaces are knapped from dense black chert with pressure flaking along both edges - their lenticular profiles and tapered bases suggest use as knives or ceremonial blades, with the constricted lower portion serving as a grip or hafting element. The two smaller points are worked from tan chert into finely barbed arrow or dart points, their lateral notches and serrated edges indicating a later reduction in scale consistent with bow-and-arrow technology. Size of largest: 1.75" W x 8" H (4.4 cm W x 20.3 cm H); case: 8" W x 12" H (20.3 cm W x 30.5 cm H)

Provenance: private southwestern Pennsylvania, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
