  • Provenance: PROVENANCE: This piece was purchased in 2000, directly from Ms. Sillman at her studio in New York by Jeffry Smith and Olen Earnest, owners of Smith Earnest Interiors Inc., a 22 year old design firm. The firm specializes in custom interior design for estates, homes and yachts throughout the United States. Their designs have been featured in USA Today, House Beautiful Houses and Plans, Christie's Great Estates, Florida Architecture, Florida Design, Orlando Magazine, Orlando Home Design and Women’s Day Kitchen and Baths to name but a few. Their designs have taken numerous awards, some of which include the prestigious Best in America Living Award from the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) for the “Best One of a Kind Spec House in the United States” in 1997 and more recently, two Aurora Awards in 2003 for the best $3,000,001 and over One of a Kind Custom Home and also the $2,000,000 - $3,000,000 One of a Kind Custom Home.
  • Literature: AMY SILLMAN is a contemporary drawing and painting artist. She is known for bold color choices and expressionistic strokes coupled with elements of drawing and humor. While her works can be created on such diverse substrates as paper, canvas and animation on Tables and IPhones, her approach is always painterly, full of brushstrokes and movement. Sillman has also been a frank critic on the inequality of female representation in an art field dominated by males. Sillman graduated with an MFA from Bard College and simultaneously become a recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts Painting fellowship and Elaine de Kooning Memorial Fellowship. She is currently Co-chair, in Painting at the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts. Sillman has exhibited extensively, her list of solo exhibitions includes: the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, The Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C., the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College, and the Blaffer Gallery at The Art Museum of the University of Houston. Her work can be found in the permanent public collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, The Brooklyn Museum and The Baltimore Museum of Art.
