An elegant American Brilliant Period (ABP) cut glass centerpiece bowl, finely executed with the deeply cut geometric decoration that defines the finest examples of late nineteenth and early twentieth-century American glassmaking. The bowl features a dramatic serrated sawtooth rim above a generously proportioned circular body richly ornamented with an intricate arrangement of hobstars, strawberry diamonds, fans, fine crosshatching, miter cuts, and oval lens motifs. The exceptionally crisp cutting creates remarkable brilliance and light refraction, while the carefully balanced composition demonstrates the extraordinary craftsmanship associated with the American Brilliant Period. Produced during the golden age of American cut glass, such bowls served as elegant centerpieces for formal dining tables and were prized for their luxurious appearance and technical precision. American Brilliant Period glass, produced approximately between 1876 and 1917, represents one of the highest achievements in American decorative arts. Renowned firms including Libbey, Hawkes, Dorflinger, J. Hoare, Sinclaire, and Tuthill crafted elaborate hand-cut crystal intended to rival the finest European glasshouses. Today these beautifully cut examples remain highly collectible for their exceptional workmanship, sparkling optical qualities, and enduring decorative appeal.
