Interesting Post World War II Class III/NFA Machine Gun Alpine Industries Converted M2 Type Carbine with Paratrooper Stock, Jump Case, Spare Magazines and Accessories This is a good example of a post WWII production M1 Carbine that was manufactured by Alpine Industries which has been converted to an M2 fully automatic class III/NFA weapon. It has the standard markings on the front receiver ring, while the markings on the rear of the receiver have been partially polished off except for the "INE" in Alpine. It has been stamped with serial number "2875" on the front flat in front of the rear sight. The barrel is unmarked and it has been fitted with a set of M2 fully automatic conversion parts that are a mix of some military parts and commercial parts. The side of the trigger housing is stamped "SA" indicating it was a Korean War trigger housing with a HI marked hammer. It is fitted with a "U" marked Underwood round M2 bolt. and correct "A" marked selector switch. It has a unmarked type II barrel band, a "SS" marked flip safety and a "M" marked magazine release with the additional M2 catch on the end. It is currently fitted with a commercial M1A1 folding paratrooper type stock, and a two rivet handguard. It also comes with a standard WWII M1 carbine walnut stock that is marked "BR-B," a spare set of M1 carbine internal parts, (complete trigger group and Inland marked operating slide), four GI 30 round magazines in a green GI canvas case, and a WWII, paratrooper jump case that is marked inside the flap with "ALLTEX PRODUCTS Industries/1943." Manufacturer: Alpine Model: M1 BBL: 18 inch round Stock: steel Gauge: 30 Carbine Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 2875 Class: Class III Condition: Fine with 85% of the post war commercial blue finish still remaining overall, edge and high spot wear, some minor light pitting on top of the receiver ring, and a mix of parkerized finish on some of the military parts. The stock is in very good condition with a dark brown matching walnut color overall. The various additional accessories, jump case, magazine and spare parts are also in very fine condition. Note: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
