Alfred Hitchcock Sketches and Signs Profile Classic Photograph of Mysterious Pose! PSA LOA.
Signed photograph

Original glossy MGM publicity photograph featuring legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock in a classic head-and-shoulders portrait, displaying the subtle, enigmatic expression that became one of the most recognizable images in cinema history. The photograph bears Hitchcock's bold blue fountain pen signature, accompanied by his highly desirable hand-drawn profile caricature - a whimsical self-portrait sketch that he frequently incorporated into select signed pieces. This instantly recognizable outline, based on his distinctive silhouette, became Hitchcock's personal trademark and one of the most iconic autograph additions in entertainment history. The photograph retains sharp contrast and excellent image quality, with the signature and caricature standing out prominently against the light background. Printed at the lower margin are the credits "ALFRED HITCHCOCK M-G-M" along with the studio reference number. Slight rippling and waviness to the surface and emulsion, boldly signed. Accompanied by a full LOA from PSA/DNA. Measures 8" x 10".

This same photograph was offered in a 2010 RR Auction nearly 16 years ago and sold for $3,597.

Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980), universally celebrated as the "Master of Suspense," transformed the thriller genre through an unparalleled command of visual storytelling, psychological tension, and innovative filmmaking techniques. Across a career spanning more than five decades, he directed over fifty feature films, including enduring classics such as Rear Window, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho, The Birds, and Rebecca, many of which remain among the most influential films ever produced.

Beyond his filmmaking achievements, Hitchcock cultivated one of the most recognizable public personas in entertainment. His unmistakable silhouette became synonymous with suspense through his television introductions, promotional materials, and his famous self-drawn profile caricature. Unlike a simple autograph, signed photographs featuring both his signature and the hand-rendered caricature are especially prized because they combine two of Hitchcock's most iconic personal trademarks. MGM publicity photographs signed in this manner represent exceptional studio-era memorabilia, capturing the legendary director at the height of his international fame and reflecting the enduring cultural legacy of one of cinema's greatest auteurs.
