A flintlock rifle of size, constructed with a carved, polished hardwood stock (likely walnut or regional hardwood), iron-forged flintlock action and smoothbore barrel. Stock exhibits a gently curved butt typical of children’s or training weapons. Butt cap appears to be of bone. An iron lock is a simple single-throw flint mechanism with uplifted frizzen and an external bent sear. The barrel is octagonal/round with an iron ramrod housed in a wood channel beneath. Silver-coloured bands (possibly later silver-plated or white metal) secure the barrel to the stock at several points. Overall form and workmanship align with Caucasian/Central Asian small arms made in the 19th century for practice, ceremonial use, or as presentation/child’s arms.

  • Dimensions: L: 29 1/4 in., (74.5 cm.)
  • Condition: Good condition commensurate with age. Stock retains original finish with attractive tigering/figure; small compression marks and localized repairs where the lock meets the stock (visible fibre/padding at the lock tang area). Iron components show age-patina, light surface pitting, and oxidation, but no active corrosion. Ffrizzen and cock/hammer operate freely, though the flint is absent, and the leather flint pad is deteriorated. Barrel exterior retains original oxidation and some pitting; bore condition not fully assessed (sold as non-working antique). Ramrod present, but wood shows shrinkage. The barrel bands appear to be later additions or replacements. No maker’s marks legible in supplied images. Overall, a desirable example of a regional child’s flintlock with original grip and regional detail a rare category for collectors of Caucasian firearms.
