A German 'Der Stahlhelm' badge for a member who joined the organization in 1919, just one year after its founding. The pin shows the eponymous steel helmet set above crossed oak leaves and the year 1919. The obverse is inscribed with the number '1682' and the maker's mark 'Deschler Munchen'. These badges were instituted toward the end of 1933 to commemorate the service of members who had joined the organization before the Nazis gained power. This badge was produced by the Munich firm of Deschler & Sohn. Germany, c. 1933.
