9 ORNATE EUROPEAN SILVER SERVING UTENSILS.
Comprising nine individual pieces from left to right, they include an ornate Dutch .833 silver purity marked serving fork with engraved tines, tapering twist handle with dragon head finial, Dutch marks and date letter for 1916; a Danish silver-gilt shell-form serving spoon with ornate figural handle, Danish silver mark, and maker's mark of P. Hertz; a large and impressive gilded silver serving spoon with ornate handle terminating with a figure of the goddess Diana, unmarked but tests silver; a Dutch gilded silver Evangelist spoon with ornate openwork handle surmounted with a figure of St. Luke, the verso of bowl with indistinguishable inscription dated 1720, with Dutch control marks and British import marks for 1892; a Swedish silver serving spoon with engraved bowl and dedicatory inscription dated 1926; a British gilded silver Apostles spoon, the handle terminating with a figure holding a sword (St. Paul?) and a grotesque face where handle meets the bowl, hallmarked London, date letter for 1864 and maker's mark H.H., perhaps Henry Holland or Hyman Hyams; a pair of matching silver-gilt serving spoons with Cupid finials, unmarked but tests silver; and a large Gorham silver-gilt serving spoon, the bowl shaped like a leaf and a winged snake (Staff of Asclepius or Caduceus?), Gorham mark and stamped STERLING and further stamped presumably with retailer's name of D.H. Buell & Co. (Dwight Hawley Buell). Greatest length 10.5 inches (26.5cm). Total combined weight 735 grams.
