Book Details: This lot consists of the books from the "Natural History of New York" series shown in the corresponding images.

Included is Part I, Volume I of the series, "Zoology of New-York, or the New-York Fauna; Comprising Detailed Descriptions of All the Animals Hitherto Observed Within the State of New York, With Brief Notices of Those Occasionally Found Near Its Borders, and Accompanied by Appropriate Illustrations: Part I: Mammalia" by James E. De Kay. Published in 1842, It is dedicated to William H. Seward, then the governor of New York and later Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. Many plates of mammals are included in the back of the text.

Also present are Part V, Volume II, "Agriculture of New York: Comprising An Account of the Classification, Composition and Distribution of the Soils and Rocks, and the Natural Waters of the Different Geological Formations; Together with a Condensed View of the Climate and the Agricultural Productions of the State"; and Volume V, "Agriculture of New York: Comprising An Account of the Classification, Composition and Distribution of the Soils and Rocks, and of the Climate and Agricultural Productions of the State; Together with Descriptions of The More common and Injurious Species of Insects" by Ebenezer Emmons. The back sections of each text contain many color and black-and-white plates of vegetation (volume II) and insects (volume V).

Condition / Notes: These volumes (each measuring approximately 9.5 by 12 inches) show signs of age/wear, including a detached spine cover on Part I and some damage and marking to pages and plates. Gilt lettering on spines and gilt designs on covers are intact with some fading. Many plates are included throughout, including some in full color in Part V, volumes II and V.

Insurance is available and recommended (please note that by declining insurance, you assume the risk of loss or damage in transit) on shipped packages at a flat rate of $1.00 per $100.00 of coverage for domestic shipments and $2.00 per $100.00 of coverage for all international shipments (please let us know if you are adding insurance to your total).
