This lot includes two ceramic commemorative pieces manufactured by Wedgwood. The first is an octagonal money box in blue and white, issued to mark the 1981 Royal Wedding of H.R.H. Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. Its facets feature transfer-printed portraits of the couple, the Prince of Wales's feathers crest with the motto ICH DIEN, and the inscription THE ROYAL WEDDING 1981. The base is marked WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND and contains a metal locking plate. The second item is an earthenware mug celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (1952-2002). The design is based on the work of Eric Ravilious and features a fireworks motif in purple and gold on the exterior. The interior rim is decorated with the royal cipher and the dates 1952 and 2002. The underside is marked TO CELEBRATE THE GOLDEN JUBILEE OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II 1952 - 2002 FROM THE DESIGNS OF ERIC RAVILIOUS and includes the WEDGWOOD ENGLAND 1759 EARTHENWARE stamp. Both pieces are fitted with a circular sticker identifying them as part of the RUBIN COLLECTION
