This pair of dinner knives is manufactured by the Gorham Manufacturing Company in the La Scala pattern, first introduced in 1964. The handles are constructed of weighted sterling silver and feature elaborate, pierced scrollwork and floral motifs in a high-relief Beaux-Arts style. The blades are made of polished stainless steel. Each blade is stamped with the marks GORHAM, STERLING HANDLE, and STAINLESS BLADE. These pieces represent a popular mid-to-late 20th-century design within the category of sterling silver flatware produced by the Rhode Island-based firm.
