Description:

Metal pin with red and black design on front ("EC / Fan-Addict Convention / 1972") and functional pinback clasp on reverse. 2¼" diameter. Fine or better condition, a few superficial blemishes, a touch of faint mottling, rust spots to back of pin. Provenance: From the Collection of Thommy Burns, head of the EC Fan-Addict Club on Facebook and author of numerous essays for Fantagraphics's EC Artists' Library series.

The first and only EC Fan-Addict Convention took place in 1972 and has since become the stuff of legend. The con was held over the Memorial Day weekend at the McAlpin Hotel in New York City, and a never-to-be-repeated roster of EC artists was in attendance. For fans and pros alike, the event represented EC's journey from villification to vindication.
Thommy Burns says: "This striking red and black EC-logo pin was perhaps the most desirable component of the 1972 EC Fan-Addict Con membership kit. Many people wore them throughout the weekend including Wallace Wood, who was photographed multiple times wearing his! As such they were often separated from the kits. This is one such pin — and since I have 2 complete kits with the pins I want some other deserving Fan-Addict to have this one to wear, as I've done to every major EC event (art shows, comic cons, SDCC panels, Fan-Addict meetups) over the last half-dozen years or so."
