With their classic top-hat logos, laurel-wreath designs and crowning diamond, Yankees rings from this Golden Age dynasty period are among the most iconic and beloved championship rings ever made. The 1949 example presented here is especially significant because it represents the kick-off to the Bronx Bombers unparalleled 5 straight World Series titles. Infielder Bobby Brown was the unlikely offensive hero in the '49 Fall Classic, batting .500 with 6 hits, 2 triples, 2 walks, 5 RBIs and 4 runs-all in just 12 at-bats. The 14K-gold, size 11 ring features a full 1-carat diamond and was made by esteemed manufacturer Dieges & Clust (whose mark is not visible inside the band). Condition is technically about EX due to evidence of long-term proud wear to the shanks and face, yet display quality of this radiant showpiece is nevertheless EX-MT or better. An accompanying 1998 purchase LOA reads, "We acquired the ring from a dealer from Hawaii at [Sports Fest '98 in Philly] who stated that he acquired the ring back in 1990-92 at a show in San Francisco. He was informed by the seller that it was purchased at an Estate Sale about 1989-90 in the Bay Area. Upon further research we found only one player that might fit these facts-RALPH BUXTON, a pitcher who was finishing up his career in 1949, died on January 6, 1988 in San Leandro, CA, which is a suburb of Oakland."
