Seldom seen diving helmet made by the famed Morse Diving Equipment Company! This helmet features a brass ID plate that was only used during the early 1940s on helmets produced for commercial divers. The ID plate says Morse Diving Equipment Co Inc; Successors. Prior to 1940 the company name was A.J. Morse & Son Inc. Also of note, this helmets serial number places its production during 1942, at the start of World War 2. Very few helmets for commercial diving helmets were produced during the 1942 to 1945 time period.

As can be seen in the photos, the helmet has a great visual appeal. The copper and body and brass hardware have been treated with a chemical to give them an consistent authentic aged look. Every component of the helmet is original with the exception of the ID plate, which is a Morse factory installed replacement. The bonnet does exhibit working dents on the top, none are severe. Communications fitting on back is stamped Craftsweld – likely installed after World War 2. All glass is present as well as window guards. Inside the bonnet the air vents are intact and in good condition. All twelve wing nuts and four brails are present. The locking safety latch on the back still works. There is no gasket present at the neck ring or faceplate.

This helmet is serial numbers matching in all six locations. The serial number, 4416, is stamped at the bonnet and breastplate neck rings and on all four brails. As noted above, it is unusual to find a non-military helmet produced during World War 2 – especially one with the Successors ID plate. The helmets complete condition and wonderful eye appeal are a big plus as well!

Helmet will be accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity detailing its history. A matching serial numbered hologram decal on the inside of the helmet from Nations Attic will be applied as well to preserve the helmets history and authenticity. The display stand shown in the photos is not included. The option to purchase one after the auction will be provided.
