Rare opportunity to own a piece of diving equipment this has survived countless underwater adventures and still retains its incredible original patina! This helmet represents the classic design favored by so many commercial divers during the first half of the 20th Century. The helmet was made by the A Schraders Son Inc Company in Brooklyn, NY. The helmets serial number of 1370 places its manufacturing date to the early 1930s.

As can be seen in the photos, the helmet was well used but maintained over time by a busy company or independent diver. During active use during the Great Depression and likely into the 1940s and 1950s the helmet was serviced. The communications cup & fitting was moved as well as a repair to the air fitting. The communications parts are both stamped Craftsweld. Evidence of the work is evident on the bonnet. In our opinion, these visual clues to the helmets work history only add to its overall visual appeal and desirability.

The bonnet and breastplate (top and bottom) are original to each other. All four brails and twelve wing nuts are present. Window hardware is all present as well as vintage glass. The internal air vents inside the bonnet are in good condition. The original communications speaker is also inside the bonnet. A section of the old speaker wiring is still present on the back of the helmet. Numerous working dents are visible on the bonnet. Overall, the helmet has a fantastic authentic look and feel!

Helmet will be accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity detailing its history. A matching serial numbered hologram decal on the inside of the helmet from Nations Attic will be applied as well to preserve the helmets history and authenticity. The display stand shown in the photos is not included. The option to purchase one after the auction will be provided.
