1776 Georgia Sterling Denominations Colonial Currency Revolutionary War ONE POUND Note, highest denomination on this Issue, Red & Black printed large size format, Very Fine.
Fr. GA-68. This rare One Pound large format 1776 Revolutionary War issue was authorized by the Provincial Congress in 1775 to replace earlier issued notes. This largest size, highest denomination was typeset with this denomination in two colors, Red and Black text. It has conservation evidenced mostly on its blank reverse having well sealed fold and edge splits along with restoration to the outer margin areas. The restoration and conservation is nicely accomplished as the colorful printed face has a strong eye appeal. All five signatures are present written in rich bold brown ink and easily readable including; James Habersham, Richard Wylly, Edward Telfair, William Ewen and William O'Bryan. The left and bottom margings appear to be jumbo sheet margins. Both the current Friedberg and 2008 5th Edition Newman provide a value of $2,500 in Very Fine.
