The New Life of Virginea: Declaring the Former Successe and Present Estate of that Plantation is a crucial 17th-century promotional tract written to defend and revitalize the struggling Jamestown colony. Original Publication: Published in London in 1612 by printer Felix Kyngston for William Welby. 1835 Early antiquarian reprint by Peter Force. Written originally in 1612 by Robert Johnson (an officer of the Virginia Company), this text serves as the promotional "second part" to his famous 1609 tract, Nova Britannia. In 1836 (often cataloged or cited via early compilation entries ranging from 1835–1836), renowned historian Peter Force rescued this rare document from obscurity by publishing it as Tract 7 in Volume 1 of his landmark series, Tracts and Other Papers.
