SN 637355. Cal. 25-20 WCF. Fine semi-deluxe rifle with 24-1/4_ oct bbl, full magazine, half nickel front sight with screw and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Left top flat of bbl is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 14. 1884.", with cal. marking "25-20 W.C.F." near the receiver and Winchester proof mark on top flat & front ring of receiver. Mounted with straight grain American walnut with I-style checkered forearm & capped pistol grip stock that has Winchester embossed hard rubber grip cap & buttplate. Left side of lower tang, under the wood, is marked with assembly number "800" and "X". Top tang channel of buttstock is marked with assembly number "1979", which indicates at some time in the past the wood has been changed. PROVENANCE: Wes Adams Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and mag tube retain 93-95% orig blue showing sharp edge wear and a couple of rub marks. Receiver retains 95% orig blue showing sharp edge wear, thinning on bottom and blending with brown patina, normal handling marks with some fine scratches and a couple of small dings over the top. Hammer retains dark orig case colors. Lever retains orig case colors blending with gray patina. Wood is sound with a gouge in the left wrist showing moderate wear to the checkering with a few light nicks & scratches and retains most of its orig finish with some minor touch up on left side of buttstock at the buttplate. Mechanics are crisp with a nice shiny bore. 51688-2 JRL C&R
