DownEast Auctions Holds antique and collectibles auctions in beautiful Searsport, Maine in the mid-coast, near Belfast. DownEast Auctions is a family owned & operated auction & antique business since 1993. We are committed to high standards of quality and integrity and are committed to customer service. Our goal is to provide the best possible service to the public, attorneys, trust officers & executors.
I have been in the auction business since 1965, having held my 1st coin auction when I was 16 years old. I am a graduate of the Fredericktown School of Auctioneering, class of 1982, and a 1992 graduate of the Certified Auctioneers Institute in Bloomington, Ind. I have worked for auction companies in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Maine. I've worked as an auctioneer for the U.S. Postal Service, Eastern region, from 1983 to 1993.
My wife, Linda & I moved our auction & antique business to Searsport in 1997. I specialize in antiques and coins. I have been active in the coin business for over 45 years and am a life member of the American Numismatic Association. Linda specializes in vintage clothing. We sell antiques, coins & vintage clothing in our retail shop during the summer season. We opened our new auction hall "Perseverance Hall" in 2008. We do estate and consignment auctions. We also help local non-profits raise funds using the auction method.
