Annual Maine Summer Auction

I'm pleased to present this year's summer auction consisting of the remaining archives of the Ben Mildwoff collection. Ben married Lillian Berliawsky making him the brother-in-law of the renown abstract sculpture Louise Nevelson. Together they amassed a vast collection of folk art, contemporary art and decorative art, mostly from artists in the lower east side of Manhattan during the golden time, his collection is well documented. We are offering the remaining parts of this collection coming directly from the family which has been stored for years. The highlight is a fresh discovery of a drip oil painting signed by Jackson Pollock (condition issue); it is not recorded in the catalog raisonne but given its provenance and record of ownership it's very difficult to doubt its authenticity, it also has a storage label from an old Manhattan fine art storage company Cirkers, it is framed in a scrap wood frame and needs some restoration but I believe a great find to the art world. Other highlights include: several nude graphite drawings by Louise Nevelson, a rare early edition lithograph by Pablo Picasso titled " Modele et Homme" #1 of 75 copies, signed, etching by Joan Miro titled "Fusees1", #20 of 40 copies, signed, a watercolor triptych of dancing ladies by Abraham Walkowitz, large selection of watercolors and etchings by John Grillo, several watercolors by Earl Kerkam, 72" wooden abstract sculpture by Mike Nevelson (Louise's son), artists represented in this auction are: Louise Nevelson, Ralph Rosenborg, Davis Burliuk, Ben Mildwoff, William Zorack, Collette Lumiere, Sylvia, Carewe, Vita Giorgi, Chiam Gross, Carole Robb, Edward Gustave Jacobsson, Bernard Langlais, and more, also the last of Mildwoff's weathervanes including a great folk art wooden fish, copper ram, copper running dog, copper stylized eagle/game bird, copper cock rooster, 6' barber pole in great paint, All of the above mentioned items are part of the Mildwoff collection, we also have a great lineup of American antiques, paintings, jewelry, silver, oriental rugs and collectibles ! all fresh to the market from other local estates and collections.
