Lot 001 - Pair of Antique French Hair Work Mourning Palettes Under Glass in Oval Black Frames Including Graveyard Scene Inscribed "Souvenir" And Photograph Portrait of a Young Woman, 6-3/8" W x 5-1/8" H each
Pair of antique French hair work mourning palettes presented in matching oval black wood frames with gilt inner bezels and decorative leaf-pattern mats worked in hair. One frame contains a hair work palette depicting a graveyard scene with a weeping willow tree, a gravestone inscribed "Souvenir," a cross, and a tiered monument, all constructed from human hair on a tinted ground under convex glass. The second frame contains a photographic portrait of a young woman seated with a book, surrounded by a matching hair work leaf-pattern mat. The two pieces are connected in subject, with the mourning scene and portrait presented as a memorial pair. The convex dome glass on the portrait frame has been replaced with flat glass. Paper backings on both frames are replacements. The frames show wear to their surfaces, and the mats exhibit toning and foxing. Display stands are not included.
Lot 002 - Antique French Hair Work Mourning Palette with Weeping Willow and Funerary Monument, Initialed "G.V." And Dated 1881, "17 Mai" ("May 17"), Oval Black Frame with Convex Glass, 5-3/8" W x 6-1/8" H
Antique French hair work mourning palette depicting a funerary monument beneath a weeping willow tree, housed in an oval black frame with convex glass and a brass hanging ring. Lot 003 - Antique Victorian Hair Work Floral Arrangement Familial Keepsake in Glass and Fabric Display Box with Beaded Accents, 5" L x 4" W
Antique Victorian hair art floral arrangement housed in a rectangular glass-paneled display box with a red fabric-covered frame. The interior contains an elaborate botanical scene composed of human hair worked into various flower and leaf forms, accented with small colored glass beads and a purple fabric ribbon. Wire stems support the individual hair flowers, which are stitched through the cardboard base to hold them in position. The red fabric covering shows wear, fraying, and loss at several edges and corners. The glass panels remain intact. Some of the hair flower elements have shifted or loosened within the case.
Lot 004 - Antique Victorian Human Hair Wreath in Oval Walnut Shadow Box Frame, Assembled from Victorian-Era Components, 8" L x 9-1/2" H

The wreath is composed of intricately worked human hair fashioned into floral and foliate forms, mounted on a fabric-covered backing. Antique English Victorian mourning brooch with a black enamel face decorated in gold with a central tombstone inscribed "My Dear Son," topped by a cross and flanked by weeping willow branches. The border reads "In Memory Of" and the brooch is framed by a scrolled gold-tone surround. The reverse has a C-clasp pin mechanism and a stamped British registered design number. The enamel face shows scattered surface loss and wear to the gold decoration. The gold-tone surround shows wear and patina throughout.

Lot 007 - Antique "The Wonderful Albino Family" Hand-Colored Lithograph Print, Barnum's Gallery of Wonders No. 14, Published by Currier & Ives, 152 Nassau Street, New York, Framed, 14-3/4" W x 17-3/4" H
Antique hand-colored lithograph print titled "The Wonderful Albino Family," depicting Rudolph Lucasie, wife, and child from Madagascar, advertised as "Now Exhibiting at Barnum's American Museum New York." This is No. 14 in the Barnum's Gallery of Wonders series. Published by Currier & Ives, 152 Nassau Street, New York. A printed paper label reading "Barnum's Gallery of Wonders. No. 14." is tacked to the top rail of the frame. The print has been trimmed and fitted into a wood frame with black backing. The print shows creasing and cracking, with areas of surface loss and toning. The frame shows wear and finish loss. The display stand is not included.

Published by Roberts Brothers, Boston, Massachusetts, 1884, with an 1883 copyright. Printed by John Wilson and Son, University Press, Cambridge. The front cover features silhouette witch figures with gilt lettering. This is an ex-library copy with a Chelsea Public Library bookplate on the front pastedown and pencil call number notations on the introduction page and spine. The cloth binding shows significant wear with fraying at the spine ends and board edges, soiling and rubbing to the covers, and pencil writing on the spine.

Vintage German-language edition of Edgar Allan Poe's "Geheimnisvolle und phantastische Erzahlungen" ("Mysterious and Fantastic Tales"), a collection of Poe's stories illustrated by Arthur Rackham. Published by Deutsche Buch-Gemeinschaft, Berlin, Germany. Translated by H. Moller-Bruck with design by Friedrich Stabenau. The book contains 12 color and 17 black-and-white illustrations by Rackham. Text is printed in Fraktur script throughout. The table of contents includes German translations of stories such as "Ligeia," "Eleonora," "Berenice," and "Morella" among others. The spine has significant cover loss and deterioration with exposed board material. The cover boards show edge and corner wear. Interior pages and plates are intact and clean.

Vintage real spider web mounted on a wooden plaque by Will Knight of Knight's Spider Web Farm in Williamstown, Vermont. The web is from an orb weaver spider (Araneidae) and has been transferred to a dark-stained wood plaque with a black-painted raised border. A label on the reverse describes the collection and mounting process and bears Will Knight's signature. The web is intact with minor areas of loss at some edges. Vintage wood-mounted metal printing block for an oversized Tarot de Marseille card XIII, "La Mort" ("Death"). The plate depicts a skeleton striding across a landscape while wielding a scythe, with the Roman numeral XIII at the top and "La Mort" in Gothic lettering at the bottom. The image and text are in reverse, as is standard for a printing block. The metal plate is mounted on a solid wood block with a hanging loop at the top rear. Antique ceramic tile designed by John Moyr Smith (British, 1839-1912) for Minton, from a series of 12 tiles inspired by Alfred, Lord Tennyson's "Idylls of the King." The central roundel depicts a scene titled "Gvinevere" as printed on the tile face, showing a helmeted figure in chainmail armor standing over the reclining Guinevere, rendered in brown and orange on a cream ground. The tile is signed "Moyr Smith" within the composition. Celtic knotwork designs fill the four corner spandrels. The reverse has a molded grid pattern. Lot 021 - Antique Hiram Walker Spider Web Clear Glass Whiskey Bottle with Green Screw Cap, 8" H
Antique clear glass whiskey bottle manufactured for Hiram Walker, featuring an all-over molded spider web pattern covering all four sides. The flat rectangular flask-form bottle retains its green-painted metal screw cap. The base is embossed with a crown and shield containing the letter "W" flanked by the words "Trade" and "Mark," the Hiram Walker trademark. The cap shows corrosion and paint loss. The glass is intact with no cracks or chips.

Antique Thermo Vane dome desk thermometer on a rectangular base with Egyptian Revival decoration. The base features winged sun disc and lotus blossom motifs in relief on each side of the central thermometer housing. The domed glass cover encloses a copper-toned dial face marked "Thermo Vane" with a temperature scale and pointer needle. Manufactured by Schaeffer & Budenberg, Brooklyn, New York. The underside is stamped with the maker's name, "Patented" and "Made in U.S.A." markings. The base shows overall oxidation and patina.
Lot 025 - Vintage Bronze Female Nude Torso Sculpture with Verdigris Patina, 11-3/4" L
Vintage cast bronze sculpture depicting a female nude torso. The figure is rendered without head or arms, with legs truncated at mid-thigh, in the tradition of classical torso sculpture. The piece is hollow-cast and has developed a heavy blue-green verdigris patina over the surface. No maker's marks or signatures are visible. The sculpture shows overall surface oxidation and patina consistent with outdoor or long-term exposure.
Lot 026 - Vintage Bronze Bust of a Child in Hooded Shawl on Turned Marble Pedestal, Manufactured by Theodore Alexander, Hand Made in Vietnam, Item 1021-197, 12-1/2" H
Vintage bronze bust depicting a child wearing a hooded shawl tied at the chin, mounted on a square metal socle atop a turned marble pedestal with metal base and cap. The bust is hollow, and loose debris can be heard inside when the piece is shaken. The bust has a dark patina with wear to the high points revealing the underlying metal. Lot 028 - Antique Chinese Bronze You Vessel Reproduction with Taotie Mask Decoration, Swing Bail Handle, and Lidded Top, 13-1/2" H
Antique reproduction of a Chinese bronze You ritual wine vessel. The vessel features a bulbous body on a flared foot, a domed lid with a knop finial, and a swing bail handle with zoomorphic terminals. The body is decorated in relief with taotie mask motifs, vertical flanges, and bands of geometric patterns. The lid carries matching relief decoration with pointed projections around its perimeter. The surface exhibits a dark patina with areas of green verdigris concentrated on the foot and interior. The vessel has pin holes throughout and cannot be used to hold liquid.
Lot 029 - Vintage Vietnamese Bronze Mortar and Pestle with Lid, Relief Figural and Greek Key Decoration, Marked Thanh Le for Roussel, 7-1/4" H
Vintage Vietnamese bronze mortar and pestle with fitted lid. The vessel features raised relief decoration with figural motifs on the body and a Greek key border band encircling the upper rim. The lid has a slotted opening through which the pestle handle passes. Two small lug handles are present on opposite sides of the vessel body. The base is marked "Cree Specialement Par Thanh Le Pour Roussel Viet Nam" ("Created Specially by Thanh Le for Roussel Vietnam"). The entire piece exhibits heavy green verdigris patina consistent with age and exposure.
Lot 030 - Antique WWI Trench Art Vase, French 75mm Brass Shell Casing Dated 1917, "Souvenir from Verdun 1918" With 82nd "All American" Division Insignia, Roses, and Cross, 13-5/8" H
Antique WWI trench art vase fashioned from a French 75mm brass artillery shell casing. The upper body features repousse decoration with roses, a cross, and the circular "AA" insignia of the 82nd "All American" Division, all set against a stippled background. The text "Souvenir from Verdun 1918" is worked around the circumference. A scalloped border separates the decorated upper section from the fluted lower body. The rim band is decorated with a hammered pattern. The base headstamp is stamped "75 DE C" with additional markings including "H 6991" and a date code of "17 H," indicating 1917 manufacture. The clipping includes a photographic reproduction of the Old Leather Man seated in his leather garments. The clipping shows toning, creasing, and areas of surface wear. Antique fraternal shaving mug in white porcelain, hand-painted with symbols of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The central motif is an All-Seeing Eye with radiating lines, flanked by the three-link chain representing Friendship, Love, and Truth (F.L.T.), with ornamental scrollwork on either side. The name "H.E. Bulger" is painted in blackletter script across the front. Gold trim accents the base rings. The base is marked with a green "T&V Limoges France" stamp along with the number "2753." The mug is in good condition with some wear to the gold trim and minor surface soiling to the foot ring. The hand-painted decoration is intact with no chips or cracks.

Included is an I.O.O.F. lodge medal marked "Idlewool Lodge No. 652" with chain-linked oval pendant bearing fraternal symbols including the All-Seeing Eye, three-link chain, heart in hand, hourglass, and Holy Bible; a Knights of Pythias 50th anniversary medal for Trinity Commandery, Augusta, Maine, 1865-1915, with skull and crossed swords at the crest and a relief knight figure on the pendant; an I.O.O.F. or Rebekah pin dated 1919 with fraternal symbols; a G.A.R. Representative badge for the 53rd Annual Encampment, Lima, Ohio, June 16-20, 1919, with portrait roundel and five-pointed star pendant; a G.A.R. 34th National Encampment medal, Chicago, 1900, suspended from a red, white, and blue ribbon within a wreath-bordered frame; a G.A.R. souvenir badge for the Annual Encampment at Asbury Park, New Jersey, 1901, with "Souvenir" top bar, tricolor ribbon, and cross-form pendant; a loose "Souvenir" top bar fragment; and a small brass saddle figure on a ball chain. The ribbon on the Chicago 1900 medal is torn and fragmented, and the Asbury Park 1901 ribbon is tattered with splits. The stick pin and elephant fob show overall tarnish and wear. The medals and badges show general oxidation and patina throughout.

The three-part medal consists of an ornate oval top bar reading "Stockton Lodge No. 891," a chain-suspended middle section reading "Member," and a circular bottom medallion depicting the All-Seeing Eye above the three-link chain with the letters "F.L.T." (Friendship, Love, and Truth). Manufactured by The M.C. Lilley & Co., Columbus, Ohio, as stamped on the reverse of both the top bar and the bottom medallion. The medal shows tarnishing and oxidation throughout, with scratches and wear to the gilt surfaces. The bottom medallion has a small area of loss to the backing material on the reverse.

A long pointed stake extends from the head for ground mounting. The metal tabs on the reverse that would have held a small flag are broken off. The marker shows overall oxidation and verdigris patina consistent with age and outdoor use.

Smith, D.D., writing from Spring Hill, Somerville, Massachusetts; Louise Lyon Fittz of Middleboro, Massachusetts, dated February 23, 1883; Wm. J. Robinson of Somerville, Massachusetts, dated March 13, 1880; and A.N. Hardy, signed as a Sunday School teacher. A.N. Hardy is likely pioneering 19th-century photographer Amory Nelson Hardy (1835-1911), a member of the Tremont Temple Congregation. The leather case is embossed "Diaphot" on the front and bears the Ica logo on the reverse, with a snap closure. The case shows wear with edge scuffing, verdigris around the snap hardware, and surface loss. The meter itself has scratching and wear to the black finish.

Published by Samuel Edson Cassino, Salem, Massachusetts, with copyright dates of 1886 and 1902. The flyleaf bears a handwritten inscription reading: "To Mr. William Gillette - America's Greatest Actor - With every possible good wish and in grateful appreciation of a most delightful evening spent at the Garrick Theatre New York City. Saturday evening December 22nd 1906 - Geo. Merwin K. Nelson." William Gillette was the celebrated American actor and playwright known for his stage portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. The cover shows soiling and light staining. "Captains Courageous" by Rudyard Kipling is bound in red cloth with a gold-stamped elephant medallion on the front board and gilt-decorated spine. Copyright 1896 and 1897 by Rudyard Kipling, printed at The Country Life Press, Garden City, New York. Published by Doubleday, Page & Company, 1924. Dedicated to James Conland, M.D., Brattleboro, Vermont. The copyright page bears Kipling's swastika colophon, a personal mark used by the author. The spine shows splitting and wear at the head and tail. "Spinifex Walkabout: Hitch-hiking in Remote North Australia" by Coralie and Leslie Rees was first published in Great Britain in 1953 by George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd, London, in association with The Australasian Publishing Co. Pty Ltd. The frontispiece shows an aerial photograph of the Hermannsburg Aboriginal Mission in Central Australia. Pages show foxing throughout. The fourth volume is a dark cloth-bound illustrated book with a gold-stamped knight on the front board. The text block is loose with detached pages, and content includes illustrated sections. This volume is in poor condition with heavy wear to the boards, exposed spine, and loose pages.
