An Exceptional Hand-embroidered Chinese Silk Dragon Robe (longpao), Richly Decorated With Multiple Five Clawed Dragons Executed In Finely Couched Gilt-metal Thread Against A Golden Silk Satin Ground. The Robe Features Elaborate Cloud Motifs, Traditional Lishui (standing Waves) And Sacred Mountain Imagery At The Hem, And Intricately Embroidered Auspicious Symbols Throughout. The Embroidery Displays Remarkable Craftsmanship, With Extensive Hand Laid Metal Thread, Vibrant Silk Embroidery, And Highly Detailed Dragons Exhibiting Expressive Facial Features And Raised Embroidered Elements. The Interior Retains Its Blue Silk Lining With Hand Constructed Seams Consistent With Traditional Methods Of Manufacture. Age: We Believe Robe To Be Late Qing Dynasty C.1900. Condition: Expected Wear Consistent With Age Is Present, Including Scattered Creasing To The Silk, Minor Surface Soiling, And Areas Of Light Wear Throughout. The Interior Silk Lining Exhibits Age Related Wrinkling And Discoloration, With Handwritten Ink Characters Visible Inside. The Gilt Metal Embroidery Remains Substantially Intact With Scattered Loose Couching Threads And Minor Losses Typical Of Textiles Of This Age. Minor Scattered Pulls, Loose Threads, And Small Areas Of Wear Are Present. Overall, The Robe Appears To Be In Very Good Antique Condition And Remains An Impressive Display Piece.
