48 Air Swiss Cylinder Music Box with Chimes L. Mittendorf Geneve This remarkable example of a mechanical music machine dates back to the late 19th century and features (6) interchangeable cylinders, each cylinder playing (8) songs or ‘aires' for a total of (48) different tunes. The interior metal plaque reading "Geneve" indicates this piece was manufactured in Geneva Switzerland. Other features include a song ‘gauge' with numbers 1-8 for each cylinder, a glass dust cover with leather pulls, an operating start/stop tune switch + repeat/change switch, the original song card, an interior crank lever for winding, and an on/off switch for activating and deactivating chimes of which there are (9). The comb is clean with (1) broken tooth, as shown. The case here is crafted from what appears to be rosewood or walnut and features inlays on nearly every side, excluding the back. The furniture piece on which the large music box rests is included in the lot. and also features inlaid designs; it is original to the box. The base of the music box itself includes a drawer for storing additional cylinders, of which there are (3), while the furniture piece features a second drawer storing (2) cylinders; the final cylinder is housed in the box itself. Cylinders interchange fine, though the process should be taken on with great caution as to avoid further broken teeth. Keys are included for the locking mechanism on both cylinder storage drawers and the lid protecting the movement; all locking mechanisms are functional though temperamental given their age. Apparent struggles with lock & keys has led to several points of damage to the case's veneer, as shown. This music box really has a splendid sound and plays quite well. The volume of the chimes is in good taste and works well with the melody coming from the comb. The tone of both the chimes & the comb is clear, clean, light, and delicate. It is unknown which cylinder corresponds to which number on the song card. It is believed that the song card is original in that there are photos of the music box from the 1940s with the same song card. These photos are included in an envelope along with other records and resources surrounding the music box community. Listed measurements include furniture, music box lid closed.

No broken teeth on either comb, some rust to surface of comb, does not seem to affect quality of sound, which is brilliant. On/off switch works as it should. Regina Sublima Vertical Disc Music Box Victorian era cabinet music box, functional, plays 21" discs housed inside ornate dark oak case featuring brass ornamentations. Upper and lower doors to case open and have their original skeleton keys with functional locking mechanisms. Upper door allows access to mechanism. Lower drawer drops forward for additional disc storage, and there are (7) extra discs inside + (1) extra crank. This is a double-comb model with sublime harmony, no broken teeth, both combs are clean with no rust or corrosion. Sound is crystal clear. Plays beautifully. Some discs will occasionally make metallic noises as they shift due to changing pressure from rotation/imperfections to disc. Tempo switch on front (behind disc) is operational and changes speed of music from fast to slow. The original coin op mechanism is included, but does not function; when wound, the music box simply plays until the spring becomes uncoiled. Includes (2) removable cranks. Whole unit is on casters. Original patent date 1897, by the Regina Music Box Company. Serial number 31833.

Nice sound for music box of this size, music is a little ‘tinny' as is the case with boxes of these size. No broken teeth to comb, a little but of rust to surface as shown. Original glass to dust cover (replacement ribbon pull). Incluces what appears to be the original key for the case, though the key is worn and isn't working on the lock mechanism.

48 Air Swiss Cylinder Music Box with Chimes L. Mittendorf Geneve This remarkable example of a mechanical music machine dates back to the late 19th century and features (6) interchangeable cylinders, each cylinder playing (8) songs or ‘aires' for a total of (48) different tunes. The interior metal plaque reading "Geneve" indicates this piece was manufactured in Geneva Switzerland. Other features include a song ‘gauge' with numbers 1-8 for each cylinder, a glass dust cover with leather pulls, an operating start/stop tune switch + repeat/change switch, the original song card, an interior crank lever for winding, and an on/off switch for activating and deactivating chimes of which there are (9). The comb is clean with (1) broken tooth, as shown. The case here is crafted from what appears to be rosewood or walnut and features inlays on nearly every side, excluding the back. The furniture piece on which the large music box rests is included in the lot. and also features inlaid designs; it is original to the box. The base of the music box itself includes a drawer for storing additional cylinders, of which there are (3), while the furniture piece features a second drawer storing (2) cylinders; the final cylinder is housed in the box itself. Cylinders interchange fine, though the process should be taken on with great caution as to avoid further broken teeth. Keys are included for the locking mechanism on both cylinder storage drawers and the lid protecting the movement; all locking mechanisms are functional though temperamental given their age. Apparent struggles with lock & keys has led to several points of damage to the case's veneer, as shown. This music box really has a splendid sound and plays quite well. The volume of the chimes is in good taste and works well with the melody coming from the comb. The tone of both the chimes & the comb is clear, clean, light, and delicate. It is unknown which cylinder corresponds to which number on the song card. It is believed that the song card is original in that there are photos of the music box from the 1940s with the same song card. These photos are included in an envelope along with other records and resources surrounding the music box community. Listed measurements include furniture, music box lid closed.

Regina Sublima Vertical Disc Music Box Victorian era cabinet music box, functional, plays 21" discs housed inside ornate dark oak case featuring brass ornamentations. Upper and lower doors to case open and have their original skeleton keys with functional locking mechanisms. Upper door allows access to mechanism. Lower drawer drops forward for additional disc storage, and there are (7) extra discs inside + (1) extra crank. This is a double-comb model with sublime harmony, no broken teeth, both combs are clean with no rust or corrosion. Sound is crystal clear. Plays beautifully. Some discs will occasionally make metallic noises as they shift due to changing pressure from rotation/imperfections to disc. Tempo switch on front (behind disc) is operational and changes speed of music from fast to slow. The original coin op mechanism is included, but does not function; when wound, the music box simply plays until the spring becomes uncoiled. Includes (2) removable cranks. Whole unit is on casters. Original patent date 1897, by the Regina Music Box Company. Serial number 31833.

Original glass to dust cover (replacement ribbon pull). Incluces what appears to be the original key for the case, though the key is worn and isn't working on the lock mechanism.
