Lot: 96186 - Fr. 2405. 1928 $100 Gold Certificate. PCGS Banknote About Uncirculated 55.

Spared a fate that befell many of its counterparts. Executive Order 6102 was unkind to the $100 denomination especially for those towards the top of the grading spectrum. This trait belies the fact that $100 Gold Certificates are among the most popular numismatic relics of a bygone era and were issued only in small quantities owing to their limited utility in circulation. Many survivors are encountered lacking the qualities exemplified by this specimen that was spared such an inglorious end like most of its counterparts. Crisp knife-like margins serve to frame both sides of the composition while the yellow-gold overprint offers not only a distinct impression, but also uncommon color and eye appeal sure to please whomever manages to take this note home once the auctioneer's hammer falls on this note once the bidding process ends.
