This museum-grade canvas print captures the intricate heraldry and military legacy of Major General Alexander S. Webb, noted Union Civil War officer who received the Medal of Honor for his successful defense of Cemetery Hill and the playing a central role in the repulsion of Pickett's charge. Webb held the rank of brevet Major General for both the volunteers during the war and in the regular army after the Civil War had concluded; he later became a prominent New York socialite and President of the College of the City of New York. This print was produced by the owner of the original escutcheon, and great effort was taken to preserve its fine details; the escutcheon includes a listing of battles that Webb participated in as well as detailing his post-military career. 30.25x40.5 inches.

Chinese Jue ritual wine vessel of cast bronze, ca. 1200-1000 BC, Late Shang or Early Western Zhou dynasty. Deep U-shaped body rests on three splayed blade-like legs, slightly lopsided. Rim extends into long pouring spout and pointed tail. Two prominent posts rise 23mm from the rim and are capped with parasol-shaped finials which feature radial grooves. Simple loop handle topped with a stylized animal head. Exterior decorated with taotie motif set against finely detailed leiwen (thunder pattern) background. Exterior encircled by a continuous band of 15mm vertical ribs. The vessel retains clear evidence of ancient ceramic piece-mold casting, with visible seams converging on the underside of its belly. A grenadier's mitre for the Pavlovsky Life Guard Regiment. Pompom on helmet indicates the reign of Nicholas II. Imperial eagle plate is stamped, ribbon and St. Andrew's star are separate from plate and each other, with the star showing a multi-piece construction with use of enamel. Pompom is silver bullion thread, has the red and orange fabric backing of the Romanovs under Nicholas' monogram, and is on a wooden base. The interior lining is made of a ribbed cloth, which is ink stamped with either a manufacturer's stamp or a later Soviet era museum stamp. The star and ribbon are pinned to the plate, and the back of the plate has an etched '5,' likely an armorer's mark. Non-fluorescing. Interior of lining is 22 inches. | This lot has a reserve.

A beer stein commemorating the German military leader, mercenary, and soldier Gotz 'of the Iron Hand' von Berlichingen. Stein shows the von Berlichingen crest, a castle, and a scene from the life of von Berlichingen. Gotz of the Iron Hand became an important 'nationalizing' figure in nineteenth century Germany, and was frequently depicted on commemorative steins during the Imperial era and the Third Reich. Interior of stein reads "er aber sag's ihm, er kann mich im arch lecten," Gotz's famed 'Swabian greeting,' translated usually "As for he him, he can lick me in the ass." From Gerzit. A World War II German Luftwaffe pilot's 'Flugzeugfuhrerschein' (aircraft license) issued to Rudolf Ryba on July 23, 1941 at a flying school in Stettin. The 20-page document is signed by the recipient and features his identification portrait on the first page. Affixed inside the front cover is a preliminary document certifying that Ryba is to be awarded his pilot's badge, dated July 30 of that same year. The second page states that he was assigned to Jagdfliegerschule 2 Zerbst on November 15, 1941, indicating training to become a fighter pilot. 4.25x6 inches.
