Archer, Richmond, VA. Printed by Evans & Cogswell, Columbia, South Carolina. Sheet with (50) $30 interest coupons. Frame: 20 1/2" X 26 1/2". Condition- Overall good condition. Sheet has toning and some foxing. See photos.

2 - U.S. Model 1860 Staff & Field Officer's Sword US Model 1860 Staff and Field Officer's Sword. Nice Civil War era sword with a gilt brass hilt with eagle shell guard and leather covered wood grip with brass wire wrap. The scabbard is nickel-plated with decorative brass mounts. Overall sword with scabbard: 34 1/2" long. Overall sword: 33 1/4" long. Blade: 27 1/2" long. Condition- Some oxidation to brass. Scabbard has surface rust. Blade has some surface rust. See photos.

3 - W. H. Horstmann US Model 1852 Naval Officers Sword Civil War Era W. H. Horstmann U.S. Model 1852 Naval Officer's Sword. Etched blade with symbols, stars, scrollwork, U.S.N. flag (United States Navy), anchor, and eagle. Etched with the original owner's name: "?. N. Goldenberg." Gilt brass hilt decorated with acanthus, "USN," and eagle surrounded by stars on pommel. Fish skin grips with twisted brass wire. Ebonized wood scabbard with decorative brass knott mounts. Blade is marked, "W. H. Horstmann & Company Philadelphia; Proved." Overall sword with scabbard: 35 1/4" long. Blade: 29" long. Condition- Brass has some oxidation and tarnish. Grip is in good condition. Blade has some surface rust. See photos.

4 - U.S. Civil War Emerson & Silver Cavalry Sword U.S. Civil War Emerson and Silver Cavalry Sword. Brass swept hilt guard, leather covered grip with twisted brass wire, and steel scabbard. Stamped: U.S; J. M; 1864; Emerson & Silver, Trenton, New Jersey." Overall sword with scabbard: 42 1/2" long. Without: 41" long. Blade: 34 3/4" long. Condition- Some oxidation to brass, old surface rust on blade, and some wear to grip. Scabbard has old surface rust, some light pitting, and one dent. See photos.

5 - 19th C. Knights of Pythias Ceremonial Sword 19th Century Knights of Pythias Ceremonial Fraternal M. C. Lilley Co. Model 1872 Sword. Etched blade with scrollwork, swords, knights, etc. Etched with owner's name: Oscar Moore. Marked on blade, "The M. C. Lilley & Co. Columbus. Ohio." Gilt brass swept hilt guard with decorations and lion head pommel. White fish skin covered grip with twisted brass wire. Steel scabbard with decorative gilt brass mounts. Overall with scabbard: 37" long. Without scabbard: 35 1/2" long. Blade: 29 1/2" long. Condition- Good condition with some tarnish to brass and spine has some light surface rust. Scabbard has some surface rust and light wear to gilt. See photos.

6 - U.S. Civil War Surgeon's Field Companion Kit U.S. Civil War Leather Surgeon's Field Companion Kit. Designed in 1863 by Medical Inspector Richard H. Coolidge, M. D. (1816-1866) these kits were used by Union surgeons during the war and were also called the "Coolidge Carrier Set." Comes with its original chloroform tin, cotton (for chloroform administration), and (4) glass bottles. (1) Bottle has half of its original paper label and is marked, "Boston." (1) Glass bottle with most of its paper label marked, "Geo. A. Brown & Co. Apothecaries;.....Boston." Kit measures approximately 7 1/2" high X 6" X 12". Kit also comes with a pair of 19th Century leather saddle bags, possibly Civil War. Condition- Field kit's lid is detached. Kit has wear, deterioration, and water damage. Chloroform has rust and the bottom has rusted out. Saddlebags have wear, etc. See photos.

8 - 1863 Satirical Mechanical Jefferson Davis Card Circa 1863 Satirical Mechanical Jefferson Davis Fort Sumter Card. Card depicts a smiling Davis with the caption."After the Fall of Fort Sumter, 1861." After pulling the tab, Davis' smile turns into a grimace with the caption, "After the Fall of Fort Sumter, 1863." Backstamp: "Designed and published by D. C. Johnston Studio building; Tremont St Boston." Measures 2 3/4" X 5 1/2". Condition- Good condition with some toning to mechanical tab. See photos.

Brass hilt with ribbed grip. Comes with a metal scabbard. Blade: 28" long. Overall without scabbard: 34" long. Overall with scabbard: 35" long. Condition- Scabbard has some cleaned surface rust. Etched blade decorated with eagle, U.S. flags, stars, etc. Decorative brass hilt/guard with whistle. White fish scale grip with brass wire wrap. Inscribed, "U.S." on blade. Blade: 29 1/2" long. Overall: 36" long. Overall with scabbard: 37 1/2" long. Condition- Brass has some gilt loss. Blade is in overall good condition with some wear. Grip is in good condition. Scabbard has some plating loss deterioration. See photos.

Condition- Blade has some pitting and old rust residue that has been cleaned. Brass handle has some oxidation and has old polished surface. See photos.

32 - U.S. Civil War Springfield Model 1864 Musket U.S. Civil War Springfield Model 1864 Musket with Bayonet. Caliber: 58 Cal. Stamped with, "1864, U.S. Springfield; two eagles; VP eagle's head." Barrel: 40" long. Bayonet is marked, "U.S." Probably not original to this musket. The photos of the Civil War U.S. solider holding the musket is this actual gun. ***DOES NOT COME WITH PHOTOS. NO SHIPPING*** Condition- Metal has a polished surface. Stock looks to be original with very nice finish. Trigger guard and tang have a light surface rust. Bayonet has a pitted surface. Musket appears to be operable. See photos.

(1) Village scene with mountain landscape and nude lithophane, 6 7/8" high. (1) Schmidt 4th Allied Tactical Air Force Trier- Air Base Germany 1956-1959 with the owner's name around rim and nude lithophane, 9 1/2" high. Blade is marked, "US M3 Imperial." Blade: 6 3/4" long. (1) Vietnam War era US M7 bayonet with US M8A1 scabbard. Marked, "Imperial, U. S. M7." Blade: 6 5/8" long. Condition- Overall good condition with some wear. Scabbards have scratches. M8 scabbard has been scratched, "K-2182," into it. See photos.

43 - WW II Imperial Japanese Iwo Jima "Meatball Flag" Framed World War II Imperial Japanese Iwo Jima "Meatball Flag." Comes with a laminated card from the original owner that reads, "ORIGINAL JAPANESE 'MEATBALL FLAG'; Still has Leather Ties...Kanji writing to Soldier; 'Be Brave'.. 'Bring Honor to your Village.' Captured on Iwo Jima...USMC Vet purchased Vet Estate..." This is a Japanese Yosegaki Hinomaru or "Good Luck Flag." These flags were signed by a soldier's loved ones before they were deployed. Measures approximately 26" X 34". Frame: 33 1/4" X 42 3/4". Comes with a photo of a World War II soldier in a flight cap holding this flag when it was captured. A black dot stain on the Red Sun is evident in the photograph. Condition- Overall good condition with some soiling, stains, fading to kanji and smearing, etc. See photos.

44 - WWII Imperial Japanese "Good Luck" Flag Framed World War II Imperial Japanese "Good Luck" Flag. This is a Japanese Yosegaki Hinomaru or "Good Luck Flag." These flags were signed by a soldier's loved ones before they were deployed. Visible image: 27" X 36". Frame: 29 3/8" X 38". Condition- Overall good condition with some soiling, stains, fading to kanji and smearing, etc. The red sun has some tears to outer layer, fading, stains, etc. See photos.

46 - (300+) Mid 20th C. Photographs, WWII, Italy, Etc. (300+) Mid 20th Century Photographs, World War II, Italy, Etc. (1) Photo album with photographs. (1) Group of men in snow with handwritten inscription: July 1994; Building our igloo on Mt. Evans." (1) Photograph of a war torn street with telephone pole. Stamped on back, "SECRET Until reclassified." (1) Group of four US soldiers standing over an either injured or dead solider with guns leaned against tree. There is also one covered litter and another blood stained one near by. Stamped on back, "SECRET Until reclassified." Most likely taken during the Italy campaign in World War II. (1) Group of uniformed men observing the public hanging of three men. There are several photographs of African American service members with their names written on the verso. (1) German bunker designed to appear like a restaurant. Verso of photograph has handwritten inscription and is dated 1945 in Italy. (1) U.S. soldiers in back of truck with a German flag. Pencil inscription on back has losses but mentions, "German trophies." Several photographs of World War II airfields, bases, and airplanes. Several Italian postcards, including one of an Italian soldier signed and dated 1938. (1) African American service member manning an AA gun. Various photographs featuring boats, submarine, military trucks, tanks, etc. Various photographs of Camp Forrest (now Arnold Air Force Base) located in Tullahoma, Tennessee, which was one of the Army's largest training bases during the war. Various training photos from the 1960s, including women service members. (1) Group standing by plane with inscription, "Our guest speaker famous pilot Roscoe Turner." (1) 11" X 15" scrap book. The following photographs have been glued into the scrap book. Most photographs have an inscription written on them or underneath. Several photographs detailing a plane crash. Photographs of a ship yard in Aden, Arabia. Dogs. Group shots of soldiers. Aerial photos of a trip to California. 1943 photographs in Kenya. Photographs of a trip to India, Palestine, and Cairo. 1943 African Safari in Eritrea, including large panorama shots. Group of photos of Class Formation Scott Field, Illinois including water training. And more. Condition- Almost all photos are in overall good condition. A few in the scrap book have damage that obscures the photo. Photos in scrap book have been glued. Scrap book is missing some photos. Some of the photos in the album came from the scrap book and have remnants of black construction paper on verso where they were removed. See photos.

48 - Over 250 WWII U.S. Military Recognition Slides Over 250 World War II U.S. Navy and Military Aircraft/Ship Glass Training Recognition Slides, 1939-1945. These slides were used to train soldiers in identifying friendly and hostile ships and aircrafts. Slides were manufactured by the Three Dimension Corporation, Chicago, Illinois. Slide: 3 1/4" X 4". Slides come in a carrying hard case with cantilever trays. Measures approximately 11 1/4" high X 15 1/2" X 9". Condition- Slides are in good condition with the exception of (5) that have cracks. Case is in overall good condition with some wear, scuffs, and minor surface rust. See photos.

50 - WWI Brass Shell Trench Art Umbrella Stand World War I Brass Shell Trench Art Umbrella Stand. Constructed from a French warship artillery 340mm cartridge. Dated on a decorative shield, "1918." Heavy umbrella stand measures approximately 17 7/8" high X 13 3/4" diameter. Condition- Overall good condition with some corrosion/surface rust. See photos.

Includes: U.S. Army uniform, M-1 combat helmet, aluminum mess kit, canteen, holster, belt, French leather binoculars, Vietnam War era US army green wool dress uniform jacket with pants, 1940s/1950s field manuals, menus, postcards, etc. See photos. 122 - 1758 Fort Stanwix Scrimshaw Powder Horn 1758 Fort Stanwix, New York Scrimshaw Powder Horn. The construction of Fort Stanwix commenced on August 26, 1758, under the command of British General John Stanwix. It was built to guard a portage known as the Oneida Carry during the French and Indian War. The horn is decorated with two snakes, rabbit, fish, plants, goose/eagle, name of the fort, the date 1758, and other indecipherable inscriptions. Measures approximately 12" long X 3" diameter (at plug end). Mouth approximately 1" diameter. Provenance: Louie B. Black of Savannah, Tennessee, "The Black House," to Yvonne Ellis and Sam Hanna, Savannah, Tennessee. Mrs. Hanna was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution. ***STAND DOES NOT SELL. FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY*** Condition- Very solid horn. Little rough where the large plug is missing. Has wear, scratches. A considerable amount of the scrimshaw words/lettering is indecipherable. Blade measures 12 7/8" long. (1) 18th Century Kurdish Khanjar dagger. Blade: 9" long. Overall: 14 3/4" long. Both knives have been rusty and cleaned, showing signs of pitting, rusting, etc. The handle on the small knife has considerable weathering and two cracks and the knife's brass handguard is loose. The larger knife has a replaced handle attached with modern rivets and looks to be missing part of a guard that was held in place by two holes in lower portion of handguard and pommel. Dagger has surface rust, dents, small nicks to blade, and a split in handle. See photos.

Etched or painted advertising windows at the entrance read, "Bluff City Cigar Factory; Tennessee Brewing; ???" The Memphis Cigar Factory, of which A. Pontius was the proprietor, was situated at 50 Jefferson Street, corner of Second. Mr. Pontius occupied there the entire upper floor and also the basement. He had 15-20 cigar makers and roughly 10 other employees, and had an output of about 90,000 cigars a week. Image: 4 1/2" X 7 1/2". Overall: 8" X 10". This card features Stevens holding onto the arm of longtime body servant, Alexander Kent (1850-1903). Alexander Kent was engaged to work for Stevens around 1880 at Liberty Hall, Stevens' Crawfordville, Georgia Estate, and remained with him until Stevens death in March 1883. Kent was left $200 in Stevens will for his "kind attention to me." From a 1900's census it was stated that Kent could read and write and he owned a house, "free" (not mortgaged). Fairchild is in uniform and is clearly displaying the loss of his arm, which occurred at the Battle of Gettysburg. Signed at bottom, "Lucius Fairchild Brig. Genl. Vols." Fairchild was appointed as Brigadier General by Lincoln but was never confirmed by the senate. This photo was probably taken in October of 1863, just after Lincoln appointed him. Visible image: 5 1/4" X 7 3/8". Condition- Overall good condition with some staining and discoloration. See photos.

The discussed ordnance would have been used for The Battle of Shiloh April 6-7, 1862 or the Siege of Corinth, April 29-May 30th, 1862. (1) Period copy of the Confederate Nitre & Mining Bureau Order #14, Richmond, Virginia February 3rd, 1863. (1) 1864 Confederate quartermaster's department invoice. (1) Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America for an individual named Andrew J. Guinn of Madison County, Tennessee, 2nd of October 1863. The oath was taken at Union City, Tennessee by John T. Young Captain and Probate Marshall. (1) Pre-Civil War letter to a father stating his son is in the hospital on his deathbed. 224 - Samuel J. Hays Slave Bill of Sale 1862 Samuel J. Hays Slave Bill of Sale 1862, Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee. March 26th, 1862 recorded sale of an African American lady called Ellen, about 25 or 25 years of age, and her five children for $900. By Samuel J. Hays (1802-1866). Hays' mother, Jane Donelson Hays, and President Andrew Jackson's wife, Rachel, were sisters. Hays was an American militia officer, lawyer, slave owner, plantation owner, and railroad investor in West Tennessee. The sale was registered by the county court clerk of Madison County in Jackson, Tennessee. The document details the transaction. Condition- Toning, stains, and some wear. See photos.

225 - Civil War Parole Gainesville, AL Forrest Cav. Corp Civil War Parole Gainesville, Alabama Forrest Cavalry Corps. This parole was issued May 10th, 1865 to Private James M. Reavis of Jackson (Madison County), Tennessee. The parole was by the order of U.S. Major General Edward Canby U.S.A. and signed by Elias Smith Dennis Brigadier General. James Reavis enlisted for service for the Confederate States of America and was assigned to the Engineer Corps under Forrest. He remained in service until the end of the war and his parole at Gainesville, Alabama. In 1862 he married Margaret A. Brown. He was a member of First Methodist Church, Jackson, Tennessee. Verso of document has a handwritten note dated May 10th, 1865 written by a Captain Engineer Forrest Cavalry. His signature is indecipherable but the note states that Private J. M. Reavis owns one private horse that should be returned to him. Document measures 4 3/4" X 7 3/4". Condition- Overall good condition with some creases and toning. See photos.

In a letter to Governor Israel Washburn Jr. Dr. John Manson (1831-1885) of Pittsfield, Maine accepted the position of surgeon in his area, August 15, 1862. However, in a letter in September 9, 1862 he declined the position. Still he was mustered into the 24th Regiment at Augusta on September 20, 1862. Condition- Overall good condition with some dents and tarnish. Flask has a small interior flake/crack. See photos.
