4 - Navajo Silver Turquoise Belt Buckle Dan Jackson Sterling silver belt buckle by Navajo artist Dan A. Jackson of Window Rock, Arizona. Circa 1970s. The buckle weighs 80 grams and measures 3" x 2 1/4".

5 - Painting Center St Casper WY Marie Dolph 12" x 18" This oil on artist's board oil painting is by Casper, Wyoming artist Marie Dorothy (M.D.) Dolph (1884-1979). This is a rare subject for the artist, depicting Center Street, Casper, Wyoming in 1912. The painting shows Webel & Hall Mercantile and The Graham House, Casper's first hotel. The painting is 12" x 18" and it is in the original artist's 14 1/2" x 20 1/2" frame.

6 - 1939 Supermen of America Celluloid Pin Back Button Rare 1 1/4" celluloid premium insert Superman pin back button from the Supermen of America, the first official comic book character fan club. It was formed in 1939 by DC Comics (then National Comics) and features the iconic image of Superman and the slogan "Strength Courage Justice" from the back cover of the Superman #1 comic, illustrated by Joe Schuster. Excellent condition.

7 - 1854 Map United States Ensign Bridgman Fanning Rare map in good condition on its original rollers from a formative period in the history of the US. The map is linen backed and measures 36" long and 46" tall. I believe this is the 1860 statistical edition which incorporates the 1860 census data in vignettes for the state around the edge. Published by well prominent New York City map makers Edward H. Ensign, Erastus C. Bridgman and Thomas C. Fanning, whose offices were located at 156 Willaim Street. The original patent date was 1845. CONDITION NOTES: The map is on its original rollers and mounted on linen. It is still quite flexible and rolls easily. The surface has a glossy coating which has yellowed with age. There is one tear at the top right corner with no loss of material (see close up photo) where the map has come away from the linen backing. Good color with some foxing from age. We are happy to supply additional information or photographs of this rare map.

9 - Michael Anthony 14K Gold Diamond Quartz Wristwatch The watch and band are 14k gold. The bezel is set with 20 small diamonds and the winding stem is set with a sapphire. The dial is mother of pearl. It is 6 1/2" long. and weighs a total of 14 grams. In excellent condition in its original box.

10 - Tiffany & Co Sterling Silver Blackberry Vine Spoon This large 7 1/4" berry spoon was made in the late 1800s by Tiffany & Company in the Blackberry Vine pattern. As with many berry spoons, the pierced bowl is vermeil (gold wash). The spoon weighs 61 grams and is monogrammed.

12a - W&H Celluloid Pin Back Buttons US Generals These 3/4" celluloid pin back buttons are from the "Celebrated American Generals" series produced from 1897 and 1898 by Whitehead & Hoag. They were not product inserts. They were marketed through the Whitehead & Hoag catalog to retail customers. Many other pin back buttons from this collection, most in excellent condition and many from the 1890s, are also offered in this auction.

13 - Vintage Gold Dust Pendant Necklace 18" GF Chain The frame around the glass "bubble" holding the gold dust and fine 18" chain are both 1/20 12K gold filled.

14 - Antique Cast Iron #3 CS Bell Schoolhouse Farm Bell Large 18" diameter bell made to be mounted on a post. It has been outside, so it has surface rust. The bell sits down into the cradle. It needs a handle which mounts on the side. It is mounted on a short section of a 4 x 4 post. The bolts can be loosened for remounting. It sounds great!

16 - Fred Harvey Navajo Turquoise Silver Cuff Bracelet Circa 1920s to 1940s (The Fred Harvey Era) sterling silver cuff bracelet. It may be set with a Nevada Blue Gem turquoise cabochon stone. It measures 4 3/4" plus a 1" gap. Total weight is 13 grams. The bracelet is a bit bent from wear (see photos).

17 - 1930s Eaton Co Trapper Point 4 Point Wool Blanket 90" x 72" four point Hudson Bay type blanket by T. Eaton Co Ltd, Canada (made in England). With woven label dating the blanket to the1920s to 1930s. In excellent condition with no moth or other damage. The blanket was photographed on a king size bed.

17a - Six Pieces 18K Gold Dental Solder 5 Grams All six pieces are stamped with their gold content (18) by the manufacturer. They weigh a total of 5 grams. They were found in an early to mid 20th century dental office.

18 - 10K Gold Deep Relief Carved Shell Cameo Pendant Signed 10K on the bail with delicately engraved frame. 1" long and 3/4" wide. The lot also includes a group of Italian glass beads salvaged from an antique necklace.

19 - 1970s WRANGLER No Fault Denim Jacket Size 42 Collection grade Wrangler 74126 PW (pre-washed) "No Fault" denim trucker jacket, made in the USA between 1974 &1976. It has been worn very little. It is made of 100% Sanfor-Set dark indigo heavy-duty 14 ounce broken twill denim. It has Western (Wrangler) stitching on the chest pockets, a pencil slot on the pocket, a black neck tag, brass buttons and slanted welt pockets at the waist.

19a - 1901 Pan American Expo Celluloid Pin Back Button The Pan-American Expo was a very large World's Fair held in Buffalo, New York in 1901. This is an official promotional pin back button from the fair. It has the official logo of the fair, picturing the two continents as women holding hands across Central America. President William McKinley was assassinated at the fair.

20 - High End Brown Jordan Chair & Ottoman & Rocker Brown Jordan of St. Augustine Florida is a luxury designer brand of outdoor furniture. This high quality natural color all-weather synthetic wicker set has never been used. It was still wrapped in factory plastic when it was consigned. The pieces were bought years ago by the consignor for a planned sunroom which was never built. It has been stored in a clean, temperature controlled area and looks like it just came out of the factory. The oversize armchair is 37" wide x 34" tall x 35" deep and the seat cushion is 25" x 25". The matching ottoman is 27" x 27" x 17" tall. The matching rocker is 28 1/2" wide x 39" tall x 32" deep and its reat cushion is 20" x 20".

21 - 1930s Child Size Enamelware Nursery Rhyme Table This charming 20" x 16" x 19" tall table has an enameled steel top and painted wooden legs. The top has the alphabet, numbers up to 10 and illustrated nursery rhymes on it.

21a - Fabulous 1920s Black & White Lady's Feather Boa This ostrich feather boa measures 28" (46" with the tassels). It was worn by a woman who was a member of San Francisco high society in the 1920s. She was a descendant of Charles and Nathaniel Howard of San Francisco, Alamo, & Danville California, two brothers who came West from Wareham, Massachusetts in 1849 for the California Gold Rush and made their fortune there. The photos do not do the boa justice.

22 - 1989 Bronze Colt Horse Sculpture Shippen WY 7" x 3" x 7" limited edition bronze sculpture #18/30 entitled "Born to Run" by Wyoming artist Gerald A. Shippen, who was raised on a ranch near Yellowstone Park. His work is included in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and he has been awarded the Governor's Choice Award.

28a - 1898 Deering Harvester Celluloid Pin Back Button This 1 1/4" celluloid advertising pin back button shows a farmer driving a horse drawn ideal binder or reaper. It was made between 1898 and 1902 to promote the Deering Harvester Company of Chicago. In 1902 the company merged with McCormick Harvesting Machine Company to form International Harvester Company. There were 160 buttons in the Yellow Kid series. Many other pin back buttons from this collection, most in excellent condition and many from the 1890s, are also offered in this auction.

29 - CDV 1st Lieut John Enoch OH Volunteer Infantry 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" CDV of 1st Lieutenant John Enoch of Company J of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry. This is one of a collection of 31 Civil War CDV (Carte de Visite) photographs in this auction that belonged to Edward Bunt Moore, who served in the 54th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, a Zouave unit created in October, 1861. Moore was mustered into the Regiment on October 15, 1861 and served until January 4, 1865 with the ranks of Sergeant, 1st Sergeant, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. The Regiment fought at the battles of Shiloh and Vicksburg and served under General Sherman for nearly the entire Civil War, including his "March to the Sea". and the Battle of Atlanta. Mr. Moore identified Mr. Enoch on the back of the CDV.

35 - Navajo Silver & Turquoise 35" Link Concho Belt Mid-century concho belt, dating to the 1950s to the 1970s. Possibly from the Fred Harvey era. The belt weighs 87 grams. There are 24 small (1" x 1/2") conchos and one larger (1 1/2" x 1 1/8") concho. It is signed STERLING but has no maker's mark.

36 - Ltd Ed Print #29/500 Horse L. Henry New Mexico It measures 13 1/2" x 10 1/2" in a 22 3/4" x 19 3/4" frame.

37 - Cowboys & Indians by Joe Beeler With Painting This is the rare leather bound signed limited edition of this book with slipcover. It contains an original watercolor painting of a cowboy by the artist on the page certifying it as limited edition #144/200. It was published in 1967. In excellent condition with a small bump on the corner of the slipcase that does not affect the book inside.

38 - 1992 Cintika 3" Whimsical Bullfrog Brooch The big 3" long whimsical brooch does not attract a magnet and is probably cast from patinated pewter.

38a - 1898 Indian Chiefs Celluloid Pin Back Buttons These 3/4" celluloid pin back buttons were produced by Whitehead & Hoag from 1898-1901 as promotional inserts for American Pepsin Gum Company. The series is known as the "Indian Chiefs" or "Native American Potraits" series. The chiefs are Lone Wolf, Red Cloud, Sitting Bull, Spotted Tail and Rushing Bear. Also included is "American Indian". Many other pin back buttons from this collection, most in excellent condition and many from the 1890s, are also offered in this auction.

44 - 24 Plains Dairy WY 1/2 Pint Milk Bottles in Case Guaranteed original pyro painted with the Cheyenne Frontier Days cowboy and bucking horse logo. Twenty four bottles in good condition in a vintage metal bottle carrier. Each bottle is 5 1/2" tall. 44a - 1898 Spanish American War Pin Back Buttons This lot includes a 1 3/4" diameter celluloid pin back button with flag border of the Battleship Maine, whose sinking in Havana Harbor in February of 1898 triggered the war. 49a - 1920s 8 Panel Black Sequin Chiffon Flapper Dress This dress was worn by a woman who was a member of San Francisco high society in the 1920s. It features cascades of sequins and an eight panel swing skirt. It is in very good condition, with a few beads missing or loose and one panel which has come loose and needs to be secured at the top. (see closeup photos). She was a descendant of Charles and Nathaniel Howard of San Francisco, Alamo, & Danville California, two brothers who came West from Wareham, Massachusetts in 1849 for the California Gold Rush and made their fortune there. The dress is 43" long. The photos do not do this dress justice.

50 - 1971 Grateful Dead Venue Poster Ann Arbor MI The poster was placed in a poster frame that was too large for it for the first photo. As a bit of trivia, I attended the Grateful Dead & Fleetwood Mac concert at Michigan State University on November 24, 1970 while I was a student there! I believe this to be an original poster advertising the December 14 & 15, 1971 concert at Hill Auditorium, Ann Arbor, MI of The Grateful Dead and Riders of the Purple Sage. The concert was promoted by UAC-Daystar. It measures 21 7/8" x 16 5/8". It has been protected and stored flat. I am happy to send additional photos and details upon request.

51a - 1898 Spanish American War Pin Back Button This 1 1/4" celluloid pin back button shops Uncle Sam "On the Way to Cuba, Cuba or Bust by Gosh". The USS MAine battelship was sunk in Havana Harbor in February of 1898, triggering the Spanish American War. This 1 1/4" celluloid pin back button was a promotional insert in High Admiral Cigarettes made by Whitehead & Hoag. 52 - Fred Harvey Era Navajo Sterling Silver Concho Belt 24" long. Circa 1920s to 1940s (The Fred Harvey Era). The belt has a 1 1/4" buckle and sixteen 3/4" conchos. Its total weight is 48 grams.

Horton, elected in 1938 as a Wyoming Congressman and served 1939 to 1941. 68 - Civil War CDV Unidentified Officer Amputee 54th OH 3 3/4" x 2 3/8" CDV of an unidentified officer who had suffered the amputation of his right arm, most likely from the 54th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry. This is one of a collection of 31 Civil War CDV (Carte de Visite) photographs in this auction that belonged to Edward Bunt Moore, who served in the 54th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, a Zouave unit created in October, 1861. Moore was mustered into the Regiment on October 15, 1861 and served until January 4, 1865 with the ranks of Sergeant, 1st Sergeant, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. The Regiment fought at the battles of Shiloh and Vicksburg and served under General Sherman for nearly the entire Civil War, including his "March to the Sea". and the Battle of Atlanta. The back of the CDV is blank and the officer has written "Yours Truly" beneath his image, but unfortunately did not add his name.

71a - Rare 1940s Joe Palooka Casper Star Pin Back Button This 1 1/4" celluloid pin back button was a newspaper promotional premium. When the Casper Morning Star (a Casper, Wyoming newspaper) purchased the rights to run the Joe Palooka comic strip from the McNaught Syndicate, they were given these buttons as promotional items. The Casper Morning Star ran from 1949 to 1965, when it merged with the Casper Tribune-Herald to form the Caper Start Tribune. In excellent condition as it was carefully stored out of the light for several decades. Many other pin back buttons from the same place, most in excellent condition and many from the 1890s, are also offered in this auction. There is another Joe Palooka button in Lot 305A . No others were found.

72 - 1991 BULOVA 14K Gold & Diamond Quartz Wristwatch The watch case and band are 14k gold. The bezel is set with 42 small diamonds. The watch is 8 1/4" long and weighs a total of 53 grams. 75a - 1920s Art Deco Silk Indian Bandhani Tie Dye Scarf Bandhani is an ancient, highly skilled Indian tie dye technique practiced primarily in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Artisans pluck the silk fabric with their fingernails and tie them with thread into tiny, intricate patterns before dyeing to create beautiful, knotted designs. This dupatta measures 68" x 23" and represents many hours of painstaking work. These were popular for export to the West as high fashion in the 1920s Art Deco period. This scarf was worn by a woman who was a member of San Francisco high society in the 1920s. It is in very good condition except for two small spots where the very fine silk has begun to fray (see close up photos). She was a descendant of Charles and Nathaniel Howard of San Francisco, Alamo, & Danville California, two brothers who came West from Wareham, Massachusetts in 1849 for the California Gold Rush and made their fortune there. The photos do not do this scarf justice.

85 - 1890s Theodore Peterson Douglas Wyo Saloon Token Theodore Peterson arrived in Douglas, Wyoming in 1886. This 1" metal token is for one drink from his saloon on Center Street in Douglas. His saloon served Union Pacific railroad construction workers (the railroad arrived in Douglas in 1886), many of whom were Irish, hence the two pickaxes and the Irish shamrock on the token.

93 - 1865 Victorian Scottish Agate & Thistle Brooch The brooch can also be worn as a pendant on a necklace. The design includes a Scottish thistle and agate stones. It measures 1 5/8" x 1 3/8". It was made between 1868 and 1883 and is stamped with a British Registry Mark, which I believe dates the piece to the year 1865.

95 - 1930s Finely Hand Stitched Butterfly Summer Quilt This summer quilt was hand made by a gifted quilter in the 1930s of appliqued and quilted cotton calico fabric. It is a large quilt, measuring 73" long and 85" wide. The photos of it were taken on a king size bed and it overhangs the sides. I believe that it was done as a show piece quilt and was never used on a bed, as after almost 100 years it is unfaded and in excellent, very clean condition. The quilt has been stored rolled in a cotton storage bag especially made for it. Two other quilts made by the same hand are in Lots 269 and 386 of this auction.

The organization, founded in 1880, was the primary governing body for bicycle racing in the United States and an advocacy organization for early bicycling. These pins were premiums included in packs of American Pepsin Gum from 1896 to 1898.

115 - 48" Round Patio Table 4 Chairs 20" Side Table NEW Made by Tropitone of Sarasota Florida. The light almond colored high quality set has never been used and was still wrapped in factory plastic when it was consigned. The set was bought years ago by the consignor for a planned sunroom which was never built. It has been stored in a clean, temperature controlled area and looks like it just came out of the factory. NOTE: The glass top on the table was never drilled in the center for an umbrella. It could easily be drilled by a local glass company if you wish to use it with an umbrella.

A few of them have been tipped with metallic silver tinsel or silver leaf gilding and the the brown bunch appears to have been wired or twisted together.

144a - Antique Edwardian Era 106" Chantilly Lace Shawl This machine made Chantilly lace shawl was worn by a woman who was a member of San Francisco high society in the late Victorian or early Edwardian period (1890 to 1910). It is in very good condition. She was a descendant of Charles and Nathaniel Howard of San Francisco, Alamo, & Danville California, two brothers who came West from Wareham, Massachusetts in 1849 for the California Gold Rush and made their fortune there. The shawl is106" long and 16" wide.

151a - Cold War Era US Strategic Air Command Scarf This 28" square hand rolled edge rayon scarf (ascot) would have been worn by combat crew members of the B-52 Stratofortress and B-47 Stratojet, as well as by SACE Elite guard units (Elite Security Forces) as part of their uniforms. The insignia on the scarf was adopted in 1951. The scarf dates to the height of the Cold War in the 1950s or 60s. In good condition except for a small ravel at one corner (see closeup photo).

The 16 size open face railroad grade watch is lever set with 23 jewel, 60 hour, motor barrel works adjusted for temperature and six positions. The number 691833 swing out case has the moon and star logo of the Star Watch Case Company. Serial #5,068,071, dating the watch to 1927. CONDITION: The watch is running and the lever set and second hand are operational. The dial has a chip at the top edge between 11 and 12 and fine hairline cracks.

The serial number is AL170350, dating it to 1953 and showing that it was made in Elizabethtown, NJ during the golden period of Featherweight production. 169a - 1910 Cub Baseball Shoe Polish Pin Back Button This 1 1/2" lithographed tin advertising button features a "Roosevelt Bear" style teddy in a Cubs baseball uniform polishing shoes. It says "Bright faces and shining shoes. A man's best capital. Use Cub shoe polish". It was made by Martin & Martin Litho, Chicago. The Cubs won the World Series in 1907 and 1908. This 1 1/8" token was for 25 cents in trade, which would buy a cowboy two drinks at the going rates of 12.5 cents per drink. At that time, 1st Street was the commercial district near the railroad depot and a hub for saloons and cigar stores.

202a - RARE 1942 Jr Justice Society Metal Pin Back Badge In excellent condition with great original patina. In 1942, DC introduced the Junior Justice Society of America fan club in All-Star Comics #13. The Justice Society of America was the first superhero team in comic book history. For 10 cents, a child received a club member kit that included a welcome letter, a decoder wheel, a membership card, a miniature comic book and THIS stamped metal badge. The badge, especially in this condition, is very rare, as it was only produced for two months before being discontinued due to metal rationing in World War 2. The metal badge measures 1 1/2" tall and 7/8" wide.

Two bars are also included on the ribbon: Somme Offensive 8/8 to 11/11/1918, the final push against the German lines in the Somme in France. Ypres-Lys 8/19 to 11/11/1918 for operations in the Flanders region of Belgium and France, where Germany used poison gas on a large scale for the first time. Also includes a lapel button.

208a - 1898 Naval Ships Spanish Amer War Pin Back Buttons This is an extraordinary collection of "The White Squadron" or "US Warships" series of celluloid pin back buttons produced by Whitehead & Hoag as insert premiums for American Pepsin Gum during the Spanish American War of 1898. There are (14) 3/4" diameter buttons and (32) 1 1/4" buttons in the collection. including the USS Stiletto. I have included many photos of both the fronts and backs of the buttons. Many other pin back buttons from this collection, most in excellent condition and many from the 1890s, are also offered in this auction.

209 - Samsonite Russel Wright Trayble Metal Patio Table Introduced in 1948 and made throughout the 1950s. The "Trayble" was produced in tubular steel by Schwayder Brothers for Samsonite and designed by famous mid-20th century designer Russel Wright. It has it's original label on the underside of the top (see photo). The top lifts off and the base folds up for storage. Ready to repaint in whatever color you like! I think that the original color was Russel Wright salmon and it was repainted blue.

Each panel measures 28 1/4" x 9 1/2" and contains three photographs and a photocopy of the writing on the back of each photograph. PROVENANCE OF WILLIAM HENRY JACKSON PHOTOGRAPHS This was written on the back of one of the three framed panels by Mrs. David S. (Charlaine) Baskett, whose family consigned the photographs: "Original photos of W. H. Jackson-pioneer photographer. He photographed his paintings, which some of these are. He was a friend of Albert Sanford, David's grandfather, to whom Jackson gave these photos. Grandfather Sanford, in turn, gave them to David S. Baskett, his grandson. Jackson wrote & signed the description of each photo on the back of the photo. These were photostated and put at bottom of panel in order to make the panels clear and identify the photos (or paintings). 228 - Antique Ornately Carved Oak Court China Cabinet 38" wide x 18" deep x 62" tall. The piece originally had a shelf in the upper storage compartment. The brackets to hold the shelf are there, but the shelf is not. This would be very easy to replace. There is one small piece of molding missing and a hole was drilled in the back, probably to accommodate a cord (see closeup photos).

231a - 1950s Sequined Black Net Flare Cocktail Dress This dress was worn by a woman who was a member of San Francisco high society in the 1950s. It features black glossy hand sewn sequins on a black illusion net background. It is in very good condition. She was a descendant of Charles and Nathaniel Howard of San Francisco, Alamo, & Danville California, two brothers who came West from Wareham, Massachusetts in 1849 for the California Gold Rush and made their fortune there. The dress is 48" long and the circumference of the dramatically flared skirt is 176". It would have been worn for cocktails or ballroom dancing, probably with a slit or structured taffeta under dress. It zips on the side with a Talon zipper, which works.

232 - 1860s Victorian 4" Scottish Pebble Sash Buckle The buckle dates to the 1860-1880 period. It measures 4" x 1 1/8". These Celtic Revival pieces with a Scottish influence were popular during the reign of Queen Victoria, who was in mourning for her husband, Prince Albert. They were influenced by her love of Balmoral, her castle in Scotland . The buckle is gilded brass or pinchbeck set with three Scottish stones. Two are agates and the third may be either an amethyst or dyed chalcedony. The remnants of a paper shop label is attached to the back but unfortunately illegible.

232a - 1975 Ltd Edition Print The Devils Lake Barry Smith Fantasy Art print by British artist Barry Windsor-Smith. Signed and numbered 205/500 in magic marker, which has faded with time but is still legible. The artist was best known for his work on Marvel's Conan the Barbarian comic series. Published by Gorblimey Press, Box 92, Madison Square Station, New York. The print measures 25" x 25".

233 - 1915 HAMILTON Model 975 Pocket Watch 14K Gold Case Antique 17 jewel, 16 size stem set Hamilton pocket watch in an extraordinary and ornate 14 karat tricolor gold box hinged hunter case. The intricate gold designs are different on each side. The watch has an unblemished Montgomery Dial and the works are adjusted to 3 positions. The serial number is 1,241,470, dating it to 1915. It is running and keeping good time.

233a - 1939 Fire Brigade General Motors Pin Back Badge This rare 2" diameter celluloid pin back button was a badge worn by a member of the Fire Brigade of the Detroit Transmission Division, a branch of General Motors formed in 1939 to manufacture the famous Hydra-Matic transmission. General Motors plants had fire brigades made up of regular workers who were trained to serve as first responders for fires and industrial accidents. On August 12, 1953, this plant had a catastrophic fire and many members of the Fire Brigade died. The button was made by Whitehead & Hoag. It is in excellent condition as it was carefully stored out of the light for several decades. 234a - 1890s Ethiopian Gasha Shield This is an original 1890s Ethiopian warrior's gasha shield. It measures 16" in diameter and is 8" tall. These shields were used by warriors in the Ethiopian army during their successful struggle against Italian colonial invasion, culminating in the defeat of Italy at The Battle of Adwa in 1896. 235 - Antique Victorian Scottish Pebble Bracelet Stunning piece of Victorian jewelry from the 1860-1880 period. The bracelet is made of native Scottish stones (banded agates, jasper, granite) Stones were cut in geometric shapes held by caps set with red stones (probably Siberian garnets) to form the square links. The bracelet measures 8 1/2". It has a safety chain. The clasp operates by inserting the hinged and movable loop on one end through the loop on the opposite end, then securing it with a small padlock. The original padlock, which would have been set with stones to match the bracelet, is missing and was replaced by a simple jump ring securing the two ends together. Because the bracelet is large enough to slip over the hand, this was functional. The bracelet could easily be secured with a jump ring that could be opened.

Grant, Commanding the Military Forces of the United States, taken by Armstead & Taylor, Artists, Corinth, Mississippi. Probably taken in 1862 when Grant was headquartered in Corinth for several months while preparing for the Battle of Vicksburg. This is one of a collection of 31 Civil War CDV (Carte de Visite) photographs in this auction that belonged to Edward Bunt Moore, who served in the 54th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, a Zouave unit created in October, 1861. Moore was mustered into the Regiment on October 15, 1861 and served until January 4, 1865 with the ranks of Sergeant, 1st Sergeant, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. The Regiment fought at the battles of Shiloh and Vicksburg and served under General Sherman for nearly the entire Civil War, including his "March to the Sea". and the Battle of Atlanta. Mr. Moore identified General Grant on the back of the CDV.

253a - Antique Millinery Supplies & Hat Making Plumes These authentic, antique ostrich plumes were originally imported from South Africa around 1890 to 1910 for use by milliners to create high-end fans and hats during the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods. These are legally farmed, historic pieces perfect for collectors, costume designers or antique hat restorers. A few of them have been tipped with metallic silver tinsel or silver leaf gilding and the the brown bunch appears to have been wired or twisted together. Two of them, the 22" black and 24" white plumes, have their original tags still attached from William Wanner, Inc. of New York, an importer and manufacturer of millinery goods in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

It has ormolu metal decorative trim and cabriole legs. The glass on the sides and door is curved and there are two glass and one brocaded wood shelf inside.

257 - 1940s WWII HUMMEL Ashtray Singing Lesson 34 In 1943, the Nazi government in Germany restricted production of industrial ceramics and the Goebel factory was forced to warehouse much of its inventory. When US forces occupied the region in 1945, these stored pieces and new pieces were sold primarily to GIs. Post Exchange (PX) stores on military bases became the main distribution points for the figurines. The #34 Singing Lesson ashtray was a top seller. Many pieces used over the glaze ink stamps that often faded or were rubbed off.

257a - 1896 McKinley Bryan Pres Election Pin Back Buttons William McKinley and Garret Hobart ran against William Jennings Bryan and Arthur Sewall (Democratic Party) and William Jennings Bryan and Thomas E. Watson (Populist Party). Bryan ran on two different tickets in 1896 with different running mates. McKinley won the election, but was assassinated in September of 1901. The "Currency" question (Gold Standard vs Free Silver) was hotly debated in the election. 269 - 1930s Finely Stitched Grandmas Flower Garden Quilt This summer quilt was hand made by a gifted quilter in the 1930s of pieced and quilted cotton fabric. It is a large quilt, made up of hundreds of small, individually sewn pieces of fabric, measuring 72" long and 84" wide. The combination of calico fabrics used in each flower is unique. The photos of it were taken on a king size bed and it overhangs the sides. I believe that it was done as a show piece quilt and was never used on a bed, as after almost 100 years it is unfaded and in excellent, very clean condition. The quilt has been stored rolled in a cotton storage bag especially made for it. Two other quilts made by the same hand are in Lots 95 and 386 of this auction. The lot also includes three books about quilting by Mary Bywater Cross.

290a - 1920s Museum Quality Beaded Evening Gown This 52" haute couture dress was worn by a woman who was a member of San Francisco high society in the 1920s. It features an incredible display of applique, tambour beading and embroidery on black net and shows the the Orientalist influence of the day. It is in very good condition, with a small tear in the net at the hem and some chiffon knots that have come loose (see closeup photos). She was a descendant of Charles and Nathaniel Howard of San Francisco, Alamo, & Danville California, two brothers who came West from Wareham, Massachusetts in 1849 for the California Gold Rush and made their fortune there. The dress is 52" long. The photos do not do this dress justice.

The bowl is 5 1/2" in diameter and the base is 2" in diameter. It is not weighted.

This is one of a collection of 31 Civil War CDV (Carte de Visite) photographs in this auction that belonged to Edward Bunt Moore, who served in the 54th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, a Zouave unit created in October, 1861. Moore was mustered into the Regiment on October 15, 1861 and served until January 4, 1865 with the ranks of Sergeant, 1st Sergeant, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. The Regiment fought at the battles of Shiloh and Vicksburg and served under General Sherman for nearly the entire Civil War, including his "March to the Sea". and the Battle of Atlanta. 302a - 1920s Unused Beaded Dressmaker Flapper Dress Panel This appears to be a hand beaded net panel that would have been used by a dressmaker to make front of a 1920s flapper dress. The design is grapes and grape leaves. The heavily beaded panel weighs almost a pound. It is in excellent condition. The beaded portion of the panel measures 34" long and 20 1/2" wide at the bottom and 15 1/2" wide at the top. The panel was belonged to a descendant of Charles and Nathaniel Howard of San Francisco, Alamo, & Danville California, two brothers who came West from Wareham, Massachusetts in 1849 for the California Gold Rush and made their fortune there.

305a - Rare 1940s Joe Palooka Casper Star Pin Back Button This 1 1/4" celluloid pin back button was a newspaper promotional premium. When the Casper Morning Star (a Casper, Wyoming newspaper) purchased the rights to run the Joe Palooka comic strip from the McNaught Syndicate, they were given these buttons as promotional items. The Casper Morning Star ran from 1949 to 1965, when it merged with the Casper Tribune-Herald to form the Caper Start Tribune. In excellent condition as it was carefully stored out of the light for several decades. Many other pin back buttons from this consignor, most in excellent condition and many from the 1890s, are also offered in this auction. There is another Joe Palooka button in Lot 71A from the same place. No others were found.

325 - 1890s Ornate 14K Gold Hasheen Watch Chain The 12" chain weighs 20.28 grams. It is stamped 14K inside the clasp and has been tested by a jeweler to 14k. "Hasheen" was the trademark used by the Eisenstadt Manufacturing Company, which was founded in 1853 in St. Louis, Missouri. The chain was made at the height of its specialty production of high end watch chains in the 1890s.

It would have been worn during the late Victorian or very early Edwardian period during the woman's second period of mourning, which began twelve to eighteen months after the loss of her loved one. The dress features layer upon layer of Battenberg tape lace over a silk taffeta lining. It is in good condition, with some of the lace needing repair where it has separated. The lace head scarf also needs some repair (see closeup photos). 383a - 1880 Victorian Lady's Black Visite Cape Jacket This jacket was worn by a woman who was a member of San Francisco high society in the late Victorian period (1880s to 1890s), possibly during a period of mourning. It is faille or grosgrain silk with applied passementerie trim. It is in good condition, with some deterioration of the lining and loss of a few acorn drop tassels (see closeup photos). She was a descendant of Charles and Nathaniel Howard of San Francisco, Alamo, & Danville California, two brothers who came West from Wareham, Massachusetts in 1849 for the California Gold Rush and made their fortune there. The cape is made to accommodate a bustle or mourning cape.

385a - 1896 Yellow Kid 83 Cigarette Advertising Pin Back This 1 1/4" celluloid pin back button was a promotional insert in High Admiral Cigarettes made by Whitehead & Hoag. The Yellow Kid (Mickey Dugan) comic strip drawn by Richard Outcault was a satire of late 19th century New York City life. There were 160 buttons in the Yellow Kid series. Many other pin back buttons from this collection, most in excellent condition and many from the 1890s, are also offered in this auction.

386 - 1930s Birds in the Air 1/2 Square Triangle Quilt This summer quilt was machine stitched by a skilled quilter in the 1930s of two different calico cotton fabrics. It is a single bed size quilt, measuring 76" long and 54" wide. The photos of it were taken on a top of a queen size bed. After almost 100 years it is unfaded and in excellent, very clean condition and was used very little (if at all). Two very fine hand stitched quilts by the same hand are in Lots 95 and 369 of this auction.

This was an officer in the 15th Corps, 2nd Division, 54th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry with a Forty Rounds cap badge (see hat on chair). He is wearing a mourning band on his left arm above the elbow, possibly for Abraham Lincoln if the photo was taken in late 1865. This is one of a collection of 31 Civil War CDV (Carte de Visite) photographs in this auction that belonged to Edward Bunt Moore, who served in the 54th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, a Zouave unit created in October, 1861. Moore was mustered into the Regiment on October 15, 1861 and served until January 4, 1865 with the ranks of Sergeant, 1st Sergeant, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. The Regiment fought at the battles of Shiloh and Vicksburg and served under General Sherman for nearly the entire Civil War, including his "March to the Sea". and the Battle of Atlanta.

417a - Pre Columbian Mexican Artifact Hanging Lamp ?? This is one of fifteen artifacts in this auction that were legally brought to the US from Mexico in the early 1900s. The 1 3/4" pottery piece may be a hanging lamp. The lot also includes a 4 7/8" wooden artifact. I do not know its purpose. While we believe them to be authentic, please make up your own mind about the identification and age of the figures as we are not experts. They are sold without any guarantees. 421a - Antique 19th Century Ajrakh Block Printed Cloth A wonderful and rare antique 19th century hand block printed 36" x 33" cloth which served as a wrapping cloth or storage chest cover. Probably made in India (Gujarat or Rajasthan) or Pakistan with natural madder red, indigo blue and ochre natural dyes on linen or heavy cotton. The pattern was meant to replicate the design of traditional tribal rugs of the area.

Landon ran unsuccessfully for President against Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John Nance Garner in 1936. The yellow felt sunflowers on the buttons are original. They represent Nebraska, Landon's home state. Many other pin back buttons from this collection, most in excellent condition and many from the 1890s, are also offered in this auction.

431 - 1939 NY Worlds Fair Poster NYC Model At Gimbels The poster measures 18 1/2" x 14". The Million Dollar Model was a large scale model of New York City built by Guy Miller, an architectural modeler, as a promotional attraction for Gimbel's Department Store during the 1939/1940 New York World's Fair. It was sponsored by Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Company. This poster advertised the exhibit, which was installed on the 6th Floor of Gimbel's Department Store for free public viewing. It was so detailed that visitor's could locate specific addresses in the model. CONDITION: The poster has a square drawn on it in pencil and has a bit of foxing along the edges.

431a - Antique Childs Christening Dress & Lady's Skirt Circa 1890s to 1910. They have a faint blue tint from the use of bluing to brighten the white color. This can be removed by soaking. There are instructions on the internet.
