In Loving Memory of Peter Cassavant
Meissner's Auction
Peter Cassavant
August 17, 1954 November 6, 2021
It is with great sadness that Im letting you know that our longtime friend, Peter Cassavant has passed away. Peter was in a fatal tragic car accident Friday, November 5th2021. We have known Peter and his family for 40 plus years. His parents, Al and Ruth Cassavant, as well as Peter and Laura have always been involved in our family and our auction business. Peter and his family use to come to my brother, Donalds White Lily Lodge Auction in Cropseyville, NY in the early 1980s where my late husband, Keith, myself and even my boys as young children worked. Since Keith and I started our own auction business in 1988, the Cassavant family has always been involved. Ruth would bring ice tea & lemonade for the boys just about every week during the summer months and Al would visit several times a week and to keep my two boys in line. Al would always offer advice and his expertise about antiques. Peter worked with us at the auction just about every single Saturday night for the last 33 years. He always greeted everyone with a smile and always told me what a great job I did even if it was a terrible auction. I will miss that. He handled all of our phone and absentee bids. He was also instrumental in bringing in some great merchandise and estates for the auction. Peter had an incredible amount of knowledge of Shaker Items, Coins and Period Antiques that he always shared willingly. Peter and Laura would always stop by the auction gallery and leave donuts or eclairs every Sunday morning for the boys. He and Laura also helped us set up and sell at the Brimfield Antique Shows. We had some great times and now great memories. He adored his wife Laura, their two girls Alyssa and Mandy, Son in Law, Josh and his three grandchildren Benny, Izzy & Jameson. He also had three dogs Hunter, Brody & Zoey whom he loved dearly. Laura and her girls are going through a very hard time right now. If you feel you would like to send a card with a sentiment or even a story about Peter, please mail to Dery Funeral Home. Pittsfield, Mass or visit their Memorial Page. In lieu of flowers, they would prefer donations to the Berkshire Humane Society.
