Established in 1991, Wickliff Auctioneers (then Jackson-Wickliff) was quickly recognized as Indiana’s Leading Fine Arts Auctioneers. Having been located in an upscale commercial park in Carmel, Indiana, the company offered a wide range of fine art, antiques, decorative arts and fine jewelry, among other specialty items. This model represented a significant departure from the typical auction house in Indiana; Wickliff’s model was to selectively offer only offer items of high quality and perceived market demand.
In 2020, the decision was made to further refine the business model, with a concentrated focus on fine art, fine jewelry and special collections, embracing the online-only method of bidding. The move to the new business structure also alleviated the need for a spacious, multi-gallery location, so a new location was secured; a much smaller space closer to the Carmel, IN, city center. While the company had offered online bidding for over a decade (and company president Darin Lawson conducted online auctions beginning as early as 2002), a significant increase in online bidder participation and online sell-through percentage was recognized by the company as an ever-increasing value proposition to clients with specialized items.
Wickliff Auctioneers is well-known for our fine art auctions, specializing in historic Indiana art and historic regional American art, primarily from the 19th and 20th centuries. Most of our auctions include paintings and original art by celebrated current and historic regional artists.
Paintings from the Hoosier Group, Brown County School, Richmond School, and Indiana-affiliated artists are regularly represented in our online art auctions.
At Wickliff Auctioneers, our goal is to provide a constant source of quality merchandise for our buyers, and offer representation with integrity and expertise for our sellers. For significant collections requiring a combination of onsite and online bidding, Wickliff Auctioneers can easily conduct an in-person auction, with online bidding also available, at a ballroom or banquet facility.
Our firm enjoys a reputation based on reliability, friendliness, expertise and a full service approach to the auction business. Above all, we seek to honor God with our stewardship of this company, working heartily, as if unto the Lord, and not unto men. (Colossians 3:23)
